You see, after we stabbed our ally the Shah in the back and told the Ayatollahs they could take over, they rewarded us by declaring the USA to be the Great Satan, storming our embassy, and holding our diplomatic personnel hostage for over a year. There's also the Iran-backed PLO who were doing Islamic terror in the 1980's before Al-Qaeda made it cool, Hamas and Hezbollah are shamelessly Iranian proxies, and they went out of their way to teach the insurgents in Iraq how to blow up American servicemen.

Uh... you mean Mosaddegh? That was 1953, 26 years before Khomeini did his thing, and was caused by a mix of the Eternal Anglo wanting their oil money untouched and a desire to keep the Soviets out of Iran. The Soviets of course, had established a few "Peoples' movements" in the wake of their withdrawal from the place after the mutual invasion in WW2 to secure oil and shipping routes for Lend-Lease.

Hardly. The USA took Khomeini's side in things thanks to him promising he'd make sure things ran smoothly. Naturally he rammed the knife in the minute we trusted him and Iran has been twisting it every chance they get since then.

For context it should be noted the Labor Party of Taiwan is pro-unification with China under the "one country, two systems" principle and does not hold much power in the government at this time.

Imagine thinking "one country, two systems" is a realistic prospect in the aftermath of what the CCP pulled with Hong Kong.
