I can’t comment on if he has any particular person he would like to be replaced with, but there are a number of other judges who are as strong ideologically as he is.
The biggest problem is that there’s an unofficial official route to get there, so you’re really limited to appellate judges. Of those, I’m personally partial to Jim Ho and Don Willet on the Fifth Circuit to replace Thomas.
