In retrospect I feel sort of ashamed for all the times I met an obvious leftoid who would want me dead and after checking out their plumbing issue and finding that's a non-issue telling them "here's what you do". A lot of those people want me dead on principle. I should have been jeeting the shit out of them,

The better part of me tells me that is not the way, though.

Interesting point. On the other hand, they built the new, gigantic St Peter's in Rome by selling indulgences to the public. Another route Trump could take is to raise the funds by selling hats and other merch like autographs, golf balls, guns with Trump branding, etc. He could raise $300,000,000 by selling 6 million hats at $50 or 3 million hats for $100. You could charge more for bigger ticket items. Going this route would really make it "the people's house."

I was under the impression that the project was already funded, with a good portion coming from his personal funds? Tho i'm sure he'll recuperate some costs by hosting ballroom parties

Christ, that's a double-whammy for the dems; first it removes a massive bargaining chip (i.e. holding the troops' pay hostage), and second it's going to drive them fucking nuts trying to figure out/unmask/massacre whoever ponied up that money. Then once they figure out who it is, they'll do everything they can to make it sound "illegal" to pay a fucking soldier for doing his job.
