My understanding of why KY keeps voting McConnell in, which I'll admit is external since I don't live there, is that they don't really like him either, but the dems keep running their typical big money corrupt neoliberals who are essentially just younger Mitch in a donkey costume. Not that Charles Booker would have stood any more of a chance than Amy McGrath, but he'd probably have lost by fewer points and cost the dems a lot less money in the process.
The DNC used the 2020 elections as a troft to feed loser candidates and political allies from with super PAC money, sinking hundreds of millions of dollars into worthless loser campaigns in states like KY and NC, and the voters aren't all complete idiots and know they're corrupt as fuck.
These midterms didn't seem to be run with nearly as much money being poured in, Warnock/Walker and Fetterman/Oz campaigns aside, probably because it was sort of assumed ahead of time that the dems were going to lose control of everything in the midterms like the incumbent party usually does. Trump pozzed the whole election cycle and killed the red wave. The GOP establishment have a huge problem on their hands with him and it's their own fault. A lot of people are going to just stay home if a Trump backed candidate is on the ballot going forward, because they may not want to vote blue, but also don't want to vote "brain damaged retard" either. Even Boebert barely managed to win her seat in Boomer County, CO.
Edit: "brain damaged retard", Fetterman aside. Though at least Fetterman seems less liable to blurt out something like "we should all strive to be more like OJ and kill alla the white women and white aliens" in the middle of a subcommittee hearing. Which probably would have been a good reason to vote Walker, now that I think about it, it would have been hilarious.
