Part of the reason Fetterman won was that Republicans didn't play too hard into him not being your typical Pennsylvanian, the main schtick of Fetterman's campaign.

Ace of Spades HQ pointed out a few years ago that the GOP has basically cut the tax rate so much that it no longer has any affect on or appeal to anyone except perhaps people who engage in high value trading or similar industries. I realize those are who fundraise for the GOP and that's who the likes of Paul Ryan etc would rather spend time with, but the simple numbers game means you can't rely on them for getting you elected.
