But yet climate change activists think we can magic all that away with a bill and regulations, but it’s simply not possible.
They are magicing away gas cars with regulations though with no thought to the expense or consequences. Shit, the auto brands even have an opening to try and get out of fuel economy standards with the epa SCOTUS ruling from back in summer and they haven't even tried.

Big Auto was waiting to see whether the Republicans would lock in Obama's electrification agenda or repeal it, so after they went the first route, they all invested billions into BEVs. If it were repealed now, they'd all lose that investment, so they are lobbying to keep the regulations in place.

Also almost all the major Republican donors are all in on green policy because it’s billions of dollars of government gibs that get handed out with minimal oversight. Between Ukraine, green policy, and social justice initiatives, it would not surprise me if we top out at a trillion dollars of just sheer government waste per year at this point. Tough to think about while we’re in stagflation.

Basic GOP doctrine says that anything other than tax cuts and military spending will be a vicious fight that they're guaranteed to lose. So even if they're not internally enthusiastic about, say, BEVs, they don't see it as something worth fighting over. They'll just lose and take political damage, so why bother?

They're not entirely wrong. Anything that really gets contentious results in them and them alone being blamed for the deadlock or shutdown. But they have no interest in learning how to wi n those fights.

Agreed and this is why voting harder is not going to be the solution. It’s easier to take the path of least resistance every time, which coincidentally benefits the donors and masses of unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats.

I hate this clown circus on climate change, especially as someone who's industry is directly affected by weather pattern changes. The next time someone rants to me about how we "need to stop climate change" I'll fucking tell them to kill themselves to contribute.

It's the brain trust that thinks stopping Coal Miners and Oil workers in Dakota and West Virginia from putting food on their table will make a damn difference when some woman in Iran has fifty kids and China pours toxic waste and Ughar corpses into the ocean.

Climate change is one of those things where people are all on board for but will strongly reject it once it impacts them even just a little bit. It’s the perfect issue for slacktivists…right before they go to Amazon and order another Funko Pop.

Oh, they want you to sacrifice. Allot. But Obama will still fly in his private jet planes thanks.

Peak irony when its to a climate on carbon.

The establishment only wants those things.

Voters want dinner table and church pew shit done. Guess who always gets their way?

Honestly, good. The fucking media here was going on about this "transition of power" when it came to the governor, and it's like I've never heard the media refer to the gubernatorial results as that here. It's real fucking gross, and the smugness of Hobbs' team talking about it on camera was enough to make one's blood boil.

I'm glad Lake never conceded. Knew she must've had something up her sleeve, but to go after the dubious certification of the voting machines is the way to go about it. Who'da thunk Arizona had a law about that lol.

The solution is to play the game the dems do, rebranding. Of course the GOP sucks at it since they just want the easy way out.

It is also natural to a degree. You want to tackle something that actually fucks over biodiversity? Invasive species and disease, which the cause is importing things and traveling around the world.

I remember you saying you worked in the automotive industry. I was talking with my parrents and my mother brought up a point. The EV is basically an extention of NIMBY, because then you won't have "pollution" from automobiles. At least, not next to you, but in large powerstations.
I can't wait to see the new regs on diesel tractors As if we're gonna farm with tractors driven by fusion. There's been pretty heavy rumors of the EPA going to ask pesticide license for all pesticides, or reclassify the majority of consumer use ones as restricted-use. DEF is basically 100% imported from China since they collect the pig urine that is needed to form it. Jokes on them though since I drive a carburated vehicle with no ECU.

The answer to that from the greenies is "well, we'll make the powerplants all be renewable" 🌈🌈🌈
And then you're NIMBY-ing the manufacture of batteries, solar panels, windmills, and lithium mining, all of which are horrific for the environment. Once again, the hippies are getting rid of paper bags to save the trees.

Getting rid of paper bags actually doesn't save the trees lol. It brings in new diseases like Butternut canker (Ophiognomonia clavigignenti-juglandacearum, yes this is a real scientific name) that kills trees like Butternut (Juglans cinerea, a walnut relative) since the wood was now processed and imported from China.

I laugh (because deep down I'm horrified) every time someone tells me tractors can be EV powered. Because that just means we'll cull the retards.

I cry (because I am objectively horrified) every time someone tells me we don't need petroleum based fertilizer/pesticides. Because that means we'll all be dead short of those doomsday preppers with a bunker.

Political Question Doctrine, the courts will evade handling election issues unless its such a bogus election that to ignore it would invite insurrection. At best the courts will say "wow yeah thats crazy, make sure it doesn't happen again" and nothing will happen.

They didn't do that for Bush v. Gore.
There was a lot of angst on the court, and by common people, for many years afterwards about this. The reason the court cases were punted so violently in 2020 was mainly because of the fallout over the 2000 Bush v. Gore situation. Normally people understand the court through its appellate route, Texas and other states directly sued Pennsylvania and a few other states over their blatant violations of the constitution, this being the "original jurisdiction" of the Supreme Court. Its written that the legislature handles drafting laws for elections and PA used emergency covid powers to delegate the ability for the Secretary of State to handle it, someone that was in the executive branch. In the US Constitution the language is very clear, unlike some of the more vague passages like the 2nd amendment. The Supreme Court almost never ignores stuff in its Original Jurisdiction and Clarence Thomas and Alito were absolutely gobsmacked by Robert's punting the case. Alito in particular was pissed with PA in the first place because he already handled a case for PA and ordered election officials to set aside any ballot that was questionable, PA immediately dumped them in with the rest of the ballots intentionally, in direct defiance of his order, so likely Alito would have raked PA over the coals for this shit.

And look at the huge mess that's happened since then. The court's punting in that situation has led directly to the current one. Even they would realize that. If the court acts now and strikes down these issues, it would deter future shenanigans.

Some of these idiots think you can feed cities with rooftop vegetable gardens. Besides the sheer delusions about how any acres it takes to feed a human, they also think that hydroponic greenhouses on the 42nd floor are *less* resource-intensive than, you know, farms.

It is unsurprising how many people truly don’t know how things work outside of a major metropolis. Not just food but anything. Food is just there at their grocery store or bodega. They don’t know how it actually gets there beyond a vague concept of farming but they’re definitely sure cities can do it better. It ebbs and flows but these urban gardens never advance beyond the concept stage even though there is a strong desire to get them going to cut out rural, rayciss wypipo further from society. The fact that there’s no startup making waves by claiming they have it solved means that it’s so unlikely that even the SV huckster crowd can’t make it work just enough to funnel any venture capital their way.
