Spergy PL: New York Kiwi here, I think we had a bit of 'tism about maybe Zeldin winning NY, but it wasn't likely realistically. Hochul never was actually elected governor before, she just was thrown in when Cuomo got ousted, and she generally seems more palpable than Cuomo was. So while there was a last-minute Republican surge here, I can't say that it's shocking she won. If Cuomo won the first time around, she'd win pretty easily.Man, I have very mixed feelings about everything as of the midnight hour tonight. It really doesn't feel like the Republicans are going to make much headway beyond the House and maybe the Senate. I'm astounded that specific states are keeping their Democrat governors despite the unfettered abuse they've inflicted during the COVID years (Whitmer and Hochul especially) while the two reddest of red states just became so red that they are no longer in play as swing states for 2024 (Florida and Texas, maybe a possible third with Georgia provided Walker is the winner.)
At the end of the day, the GOP doesn't look to be making any obvious headway into states which should theoretically be decisive victories due to how shittily the Democrats have done in those locations, barring what appears to be a huge rat I smell brewing out of Arizona and Pennsylvania specifically. I know it's still a fog of war period, but it's astounding that so much of this will remain undecided for days, if not weeks at a time. I can only really describe this as increased balkanization, and worry that the next two years will be utter Hell on Earth if you're not living in a deep red state. I hope I'm wrong.
New Jersey. Trenton is in Mercer County, iircWhat state?
Wisconsin locked its shit down after 2020, and hard. Thanks to their state Supreme Court and a push for a few bills from a very red legislature that Evers did not dare veto. Sadly, that decision is probably what saved Evers his job.Since NV seems to count votes one at a time here's something interesting to watch for: WI. Don't assume it's a Republican win yet. WI is where the infamous 3 am drop happened in 2020.
There's a phenomenon in Los Angeles (where there are literally no Republican politicians) where everyone blames everything on Republicans, so the city just becomes more blue, and the problems just get worse, and everyone hates Republicans even more. Both sides are dooming, which is horrifying really. Everyone thinks everything is fucked! On both sides!
Literal fucking retards dooming that NY didn’t get a Repub governer when that was… certainly within the realm of possibility, but also pretty fucking far from a guarantee. If you let blowhard right-wing grifters fluff you up on a best-case-scenario red landslide you have only yourself to blame for being disappointed - maybe stop getting your political opinions from lolcows like Tim Pool.
I’ll say this: Tim Pool has nothing on Ben Garrison. Or Jack Posobiec. Or Clay Travis. Or anyone that went on Twitter and bragged about “Red Wave Incoming”. Am I missing anybody?I don't. Never said I did. I'm just pointing it out that these retards do this shit every two years and can't figure out why they keep getting disappointed, and Tim Pool is just the funniest one when he gets shit wrong. Honestly, this is going almost exactly how I thought it would. The Reps maybe could get a 51-49 in the Senate and get a good lead in the house, but that was only every the best case scenario for them and the likely thing to happen would be what's happening right now.
I thought that was already established. Now the question is “who’s going to take the next step?”There is no political solution
Honestly , I think they don’t care. The plan was allegedly “get Fetterman in, stop MAGA threat, have Fetterman leave and go off into the sunset once the perfect time comes, on the ground if “focusing on health”. Ask a MAGA man, that’s what’s going on with Biden. There are a lot of pissy Republicans tonight because the shrinking neocon wing thought nominating Oz was a stroke of genius, and that the emerging populist base would hold their noses and vote for him in droves. They were wrong, they know it, and they're in a fit of denial.
And Biden won’t be impeached if the right takes over Congress. Which was the ONLY thing the right cared about when it came to Congress.lukewarm Republican/Democrat victory is a worst case scenario for right wingers. If it's a red wave then Republicans might have enough anti-establishment pickups to make influence in the party. If the Dems 100% cheat everything then accelerationists can get their way. A moderate victory is just gonna be more neocon GOPErs letting the economy collapse and taking the blame for it because that's their only role.
Haven’t people already done that? I’m pretty you got a bunch of enclaves, and even in the Big Apple, the boroughs that aren’t Manhattan have developed their own identities. Maybe even Manhattan too. At least the sports teams have.Thankfully I will never exist in the nogunz shithole that is New York but if their Democrat state government can make all of the retarded decisions it's made since 2020 (specifically the covid stuff) and not get thrown out of office, nothing will replace them. You may as well discount all of New York as a state-wide San Francisco & quarantine it now.
I thought it died earlier than this year.Comedy is dead and 2022 killed it.
I meant to say NJ 7.
That’s the thing though, says fucking who that states like NY and Michigan were supposed to be “decisive victories” for the R’s? Anyone with a brain would know that those races were at best within the realm of possibility. And the fact that we can even have a serious consideration that NY might get a Republican governer is ALREADY a massive step up from the previous status quo.At the end of the day, the GOP doesn't look to be making any obvious headway into states which should theoretically be decisive victories due to how shittily the Democrats have done in those locations
Even if that is true, that still looks skeptical. 80% of people actually liking John Fetterman that much?Yeah, this seems credible.
Either way Closeted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is going to use the results as an excuse to force yet more hysterical reactionary China-like legislation on this husk masquerading as a country. So yes. Both sides are dooming, which is horrifying really. Everyone thinks everything is fucked! On both sides!
Never forget the large amount of Americans that supported lockdowns and draconian restrictions. There were people who got off on denying people entry to events and places because they weren't vaxxed or masked up.Man, I have very mixed feelings about everything as of the midnight hour tonight. God fucking dammit Gehenna you ruined the last interesting thing that could happen tonight because we all know Maricopium's not going to finish counting until February.Wisconsin locked its shit down after 2020, and hard. Thanks to their state Supreme Court and a push for a few bills from a very red legislature that Evers did not dare veto. Sadly, that decision is probably what saved Evers his job.
I think this is the most concerning thing for me. Despite democrats fucking up as horrifically as they have, blue states are still solid blue. Red states that were wishy washy before are now solid red. In spite of the immense happenings nothing has changed other than people digging their heels in harder. Neither side is willing to concede an inch. Balkanization/civil war is all but inevitable at this point, it's just a matter of when and how explosive it will be.People in those Democrat ruled states voted with their feet. Conservative's who can are getting the fuck out of places like NY and MI because they know there is no fixing these crazy fucked up states. The country is splitting in 2. Better get on the correct side now before you get trapped behind enemy lines.
