Not a fan of Toby's writing either, hope it works out well and isn't complete dogshit. That last video though, kek I can smell him through the screen. Definitely a troon.

Is anyone else not fond of Noelle? I unironically like Berdly more than her. I also hate the Suselle shipfuel Toby is pushing. It's literally just Alphyne again, but worse and without any charm. I hope Toby does something more interesting with Noelle in the main route because imo she doesn't do much beyond simping

Really I just wish Noelles relationship with Kris before all this was fleshed out. It's implied and seen by the player a bit that Noelle and Kris used to be bigger friends. But it seems like through the whole story Noelle's been forced/pressured to spend more time with Berdly (grades I guess?). Meanwhile Susie shouldn't have been crushed on so easily by Noelle considering she and the rest of the class we see were all equally freaked out when Susie came in on Chapter 1. I was kinda hoping that without the SOUL we'd see "free" Kris and Noelle catch up and mingle but more forced Suselle bullshit we go I guess. It's so damn weird.

The Suselle stuff feels really forced and I don't care for it but the whole sweepstakes lore of her being kind of a glitch hunter is neat to me considering the creepypasta section in the sword route

also all the weird route stuff is cool

The whole suselle thing is basically Noelle seeking a replacement for her lost sister as both Susie and Dess are depicted as a mean girl who's nice to those she cares about. You could've seen that coming in chapter 2 section where she's reminiscing about her past, and the chapter 4 guitar scene basically set the record straight. She doesn't like Susie as much as she likes the idea of Susie she conjured as someone who would just bring her past back, and confuses it for romantic feelings. There are some weird freudian undertones to it, sure, but the same applies to Kris in even bigger capacity since he's just there, just not talking or hanging out with her for some unknown reason. Take a note of how fast she is to discard Susie on weird route and how much she spills her spaghetti without Kris on normal one.

It's not hard to see why, the girl had basically her whole youth ripped out, first with Dess disappearing, then with Kris abruplty cutting contact, finally with Rudy catching monster AIDS and Carol becoming more overworked than ever. Plenty of reasons to pity her.
Now all of that would've been addressed in future chapters if Toby was a good writer but I just don't have faith in that for some reason. Well at least the fandom isn't a monolith and we might see content that disregards Toby's yuri fetish in future.

The most heated arguments are for Krusie vs Suselle, but Kriselle being the canon endgame would be the biggest troll Toby could pull on the fanbase.
 
I'm just thinking back to the sperg wars that I would participate in regarding Kris. Someone tried to argue with me that Kris was enby and brought up how he has alternating uniforms between being a nurse and a doctor when acting on Virovirokun as evidence. And I'm like... "male nurses and female doctors exist". Pretty sure both Ralsei and Susie are evidence of that. And barring that point, I unironically called Kris a girl once because he and Carol had buttons on the left-hand side which is what women typically have. But not only did others actually get defensive acting as of clothes don't mean jack (as if others can't think neutral pronouns basically make Kris a blank slate since they don't actually stand for anything), if they're actually buttoned and on the right-hand side, okay great. Kris being male not only makes more sense, but Carol now looks silly for having buttons on the wrong side despite blazers being largely for women. I always hated LGBT ships anyway so Kriselle can pop off even harder.

Jokes aside, I have a feeling that Ralsei is going to be a shadow in the Light World, probably Kris's specifically. I think that'll explain why he can shapeshift and turn into a horse, a block and stupid shit like that and his weird hat/no-hat sprite inconsistency. It also makes sense for a shadow Darkner to have identity issues. And there's a joke here about Kris being stuck in Asriel's shadow, and that's why Ralsei resembles Asriel. I'm just not sold on that he's a solid object or a vague "monstersona" idk

Kris is male, 100%. The nurse/ doctor dichotomy is on the same level of delusion as people unironically claiming that Noelle is trans because she has antlers. I hadn't heard of the buttons thing before, but I'm assuming you're referring to their sprites which have notoriously had inconsistent symmetry prior (i.e the 'Dess is totally the knight as she's left-handed trust me guys' argument, which was instantly disproven by the fact that the knight attacks with its sword in its right hand).

Unironically I love the concept, but this is really gonna have to be rewritten a few times once the game is finished to iron out any inconsistencies.
