The one good aspect of this game is the combat system, which is more action focused than other rpgs i've played.
You'll probably have a lot of fun with the bosses, but if you're not on board with the writing then you'll probably want to tap out now (or pirate it). I have a pretty high tolerance for fag shit but I actually do miss chapter 1 Ralsei, he's pretty masculine by Chapter 3 and 4 standards.

It's just a very weak introduction to a larger project. If you played beyond the demo, do the other chapters improve on those aspects at all? If you went back in time, would you buy Deltarune again?
Chapter 2 is better but it has a giant "fuck you" near the end.
You can tell that the game is really straining to hold back the annoying jokes but if Chapter 1 was too much, it still might not be enough.
Chapter 3 is mostly goofy filler bullshit although I didn't dislike it. The video game creepypasta moments were actually very effective except for the secret boss which is too on the nose.
Chapter 4 is like Chapter 2 again but with the "fuck you" part at the beginning.

I would 100% still buy it but UNDERTALE is a series that I genuinely wonder if I'd be mocking it if I didn't watch someone play the DEMO long before it was released.
I'm glad I did though.

Everything you described is pretty much how I felt about the first 2 chapters. If I had to pay $25 just to see what came next, I definitely would have stopped there. But they did get me curious enough to pirate it. Having played it now, the later chapters are definitely worth it.
The characters do grow to be more genuine in the later chapters (while still being appropriately goofy) and the game treats itself more seriously and less ironically.

Your post didn't mention the secret boss (Jevil). Did you like his fight? He's probably what convinced me to keep going to the next chapter. Chapter 3 had a boss that was very satisfying to beat too.

just finished the first chapter of the demo and I think this [roblox experience] sucks ass. A little bit. It is on the lower end of the mid bell curve, that is for sure(based on chap 1).
Chapter 1 has definitely aged poorly.
Everyone and everything in this game is a goofy goober, to the point it isn't possible to care about these characters because they talk like they belong in a corny slice of life anime.
Nature of the UT/DR games tbh, the characters do get better as the chapters go on imo.
The creepiest aspect of this game is Ralsei. The author goes out of his way to feminize this seemingly juvenile goat boy by having him be called "fluffly something", bake "yummy cakes", have an overall androginous look and act like a hippie throught the game. He very much looks like the boykisser meme
What makes it even creepier is when you realise Ralsei is a facsimile of Kris's brother Asriel, and you're allowed to do all this gay shit with him using Kris's body.
The whole "fluffy owo look how cute I am" shit is intentional from a lore standpoint I think, it's Ralsei trying to endear himself to you the player, not Kris.
And the art is pretty good, but it fucks up in some places.
Yeah it's inconsistent in someplace between chapters. Like the bathroom window changing to allow Kris to jump out.

Regarding Chapter 5, if it really will take place in Asgore's flower shop I wonder how they're gonna make a bunch of NPCs/enemies not feel same-y if they're all exclusively based on flowers.

Where were you when the SURVEY PROGRAM came out? I was shitting on the toilet at work. It was something else though to experience for the first time before there were reddit trannies yelling about it.
I was supposed to be going to some Halloween event and it totally ruined it for me because I was going ballistic on the inside after playing about half of it.
Frankly, the fact that we were getting ANY more UNDERTALE was shocking. After three years we all still loved the game but things were clearly cooling off. Who was going to make the next game that captured our hearts?

Oh by the way: Some people are getting emails in response to their answers for the ARG, I guess I'm not cool enough but the troons and redditors (what's the difference) are compiling a list of answers on a Google Sheets document. IDK if you'll get mega doxed from opening it so here's a screen cap.

The sam hyde is not on there, he's just my desktop background and he was looking at me this whole time lol.
Also this thing is changing rapidly so it may look completely different when you check the list.

This page let you input an email in the first box, and a number or a time (example, 1 hour, 2 days, 1225, etc.) in the second box for a time before Chapter 3 and 4 came out, and quickly changed so you could no longer enter information. Now, a few days before Christmas, it is once again open for input. The page title for the webpage reads "How long did it take her to smile?"
So how long did it take her to smile? Who is she? Is the answer 1225 like every other number input in the game? Is it how long it took for Noelle to smile during the rape scene? Who knows! But if you answer correctly and Toby sends you a special email be sure to add an offensive watermark to your screencap and only post it here!
I was going to put 67. I bet a lot of people put 67 and he just decided to close the project early

Dude are they personally replying to submissions? Seems like they've got a few canned responses but there's no way to automate it beyond that.

[DOUBLEPOST]
Toby better have a good reason for that autistic "No Lightner Merch" rule. Maybe we'll find out next chapter, since there's a good chance we'll encounter a bunch more lightners than usual in the dark world. Besides, I'm certain that having super limited merch of two of the main characters has had some sort of mal effect on Fangamer's sales charts.

It would be even funnier if it was Rudy somehow
I unironically think there is a high chance this will be the case as there is a lot of potential evidence.
If you decide to kill Papyrus you would need to be a complete psycho from any kind of in-universe perspective, because there is basically zero reason to do it.
He put me in a self defense situation. I had no choice.

My guess is the question is in relation to Dess's disappearance. "How long did it take the girl to smile after her sister disappeared?"

Knowing Toby the answer is probably "whenever Susie showed up".
Noelle's attraction to Susie is kinda weird because it's probably at least in part predicated on the fact that Susie reminds her of Dess. Which isn't really that weird when you consider how teenage trauma-based psychology works, but it'll feel weird if it's never addressed.

I looked through the couple different spreadsheets collecting answers.

These seem to be all the discovered patterns for "wrong" answers.
  • answering with just a number = "But how long is that supposed to be?"
  • answering with a span of days or a very high number of years = "What are you getting at?"
  • saying she couldn't smile again = "That's where you're wrong."
  • saying she never smiled again confidently or with some random part of the prophecy = "You’re getting ahead of yourself."
  • giving multiple answers = "Make up your mind."
  • answering with December or 1225 = "When you have a bat, everything looks like a ball."
  • answered with "Who is Noelle?" = "What is this, a game show?"
  • answering with until she met Susie or the girl, or until she saw a friend smile = "Aww."
  • answering with "not applicable" = "It is."
  • answering with 11 = "If you follow the same path as everyone else you won't pass through here."
And these are the discovered "right" answers, which also included the text "Move forward with this answer."
  • answering with an eternity, never, or "too long" = "Do you think that means she still can?"
  • answering with a negative number = "So, 'She felt it like a countdown.'"
  • answer with some span of only a few seconds, no time, or "until she made a friend" = "So, 'She never stopped smiling.'"
  • answering with some small span of minutes or hours, or a phrase like "not long" = "So, 'Before the sun went down.'"
  • answering with some span of several years = "Then, 'It was the first time she smiled since she was a child.'"
  • answering with "4 chapters" = "Then, 'It was the first time she ever smiled in her life.'"
  • answering with festival, one day, tomorrow, or "When the heroes appear at worlds edge." = "Then, 'The next day, you'll see her smile.'"
  • saying you don't know = "So, you don't think it was really you that made her smile?"
  • answered "She lost track of time." = "Look at you, trying to be all original!"
