Introduction:
You may have noticed that you've been booted, unfriended. Ever since I added the antiswearing system back in January 2015, the cause of about 97% of unfriendings has been due to excessive swearing. This note details the system and clears up any confusion you may have.
As a child, I was severely punished for any swearing. I would lose 50 points, which guaranteed I could not play video games that day. I would also get faced with a time out, costing more points, and if it was often enough, or done at home, getting my "mouth washed out with soap". This still haunts me to this day. I see swearaholics as someone with a major attitude problem. I don't want anyone with attitude problems around as they tend to be unfriendly and unkind. And thus, I came up with a system that sets limits to it. Break them, and you'll get booted. No one is immune to this, not even best friends with niceness scores over 210.
The basic system:
Excessive swearing is defined by having a high intensity together with a high frequency. The basis for the frequency aspect is either 1 month or to where Facebook shows "earlier in %1d" on your wall, where %1d is the year. That's about 20 posts. Spam-like ones are skipped and I continue on into the next area for as many spam posts as there are. The basis for the intensity part is a points system. Each word counts as some number of points, from 1 to 4. Enhancements, such as prefixes, suffixes, or using all caps to name a few, add more points to this. Any word that counts as 0 points will always be 0, regardless. If the base word is at least 1 point, the enhancements will add additional points. When 10 points are accumulated within this 1 month or 20 post period, whichever happens first, you will be booted. Masking a word using similar-looking symbols such as the ! for the I, the $ for the S or being creative and having an r and n for an M still makes the word count.
In depth - after the boot:
You will need to wait at least 2 days, to up to a week, depending on your niceness score, before I accept your friend request again, for a second chance. If your niceness score is at least 191 at the time you're booted, you will need to wait at least 3 months until you can have a second chance again. If you're booted before that expires, a third chance is given after 1 month where it takes 2 years to recover it. If your niceness score is below 191, you will need to wait at least 1 year before the second chance is reset and there is no third chance. If you run out of chances, you'll be permanently booted.
In depth - the scoring system:
Each word is assigned a base point value. Here's what each word gives (using clues instead of the real things):
4 points: often referred to as a bomb, rhyming with the animal name that goes quack. This is the worst of them all for swear points.
3 points: a very offensive word that starts with an N. It also costs you heavily on your niceness score. This is the worst of all.
2 points: beavers and humans make them, but toss an N at the end.
2 points: another name for dung.
2 points: another name for urine.
2 points: you scratch these, but add a B to the front of it.
2 points: showing the middle finger. It also costs you heavily on the niceness score.
0 or 1 point: another name for the rear end. It counts as 0 only if it refers to the animal.
0 or 1 point: the place where demons dwell. It counts as 0 only if it refers to the actual place.
0 points: every other word in the dictionary, except something I may have omitted.
If the base score is 0, then the next section does not apply - it's forever 0. If it's at least 1, then the following section does apply. For every instance that applies, add 1 point, unless noted.
• Capitalized.
• All caps - 2 points instead.
• Bold
• Italic
• Underline
• Each prefix (e.g. non-antire*** counts as 3 as anti-, non-, and re- are separate)
• Each suffix (e.g. ***ering would count as 2 as -er and -ing are separate)
• Text color - 1 point if all the same color, 2 points if noticeably varied
• Font face (e.g. using Comic Sans instead of the default Arial)
• Bigger font size - for each case of the font being doubled in area (about 40% taller), add 1 point. Using font size 48 instead of 12 means 4 points.
• Smaller font size - subtract 1 point, but 1 point is the minimum.
• Strike through - subtract 1 point, but 1 point is the minimum.
• Unreadable - total score guaranteed to be 0, regardless of modifiers. This applies to it being in a language other than English. It also applies to masking where no more than 1 letter is allowed. If, for example, rocks was bad, you may use r**** and be guaranteed a 0. Using ***** always guarantees a 0, along with using random symbols like !@^$#. Using r*c** can count only if I can make out what the word is.
• Profile photo - guaranteed 10 points if readable in the small thumbnail, 3 points if readable in the mouse over, 0 points if readable only with the full size image.
• Name - guaranteed 10 points if the name has a swear word.
• Cover photo - 3 points if readable with a mouse over, 0 points otherwise.
What counts and what doesn't:
In short, what counts is what you, yourself, posts, as opposed to your friends, Web sites, shares of others' posts, etc. Posts on your wall count just as much as any of your comments, messages, and other things, since they show up in the news feed. In detail:
• Does not: Sharing a link to a site where the swear words are copied from that.
• Does not: Sharing some else's swear-filled post, photo, event, etc. It's not you that made this. It does count against the one that made the original post you're sharing.
• Does not: Audio in a video. I don't watch videos (there's less than a 1% chance I will).
• Does: Your comments regarding the above types of posts. This includes sharing the link, then the extra content you include with it.
• Does: You posting a status, photo, event, link, etc. on your wall where I can see it. The part you make is what counts.
• Does not: a friend of yours posts on your wall. It counts against them, not you, as it's not you that did it.
• Does: Comments you post that I can see, including those on your wall.
• Does: Anything from Instagram or Imgur that doesn't have a "shared a link" notice.
Conclusion:
In short, to avoid accumulating swear points, you have a few options. The first is very basic: don't swear at all. The second is luck-based: complain to Facebook so that they add a much-needed swear filter (though it doesn't get images and it's often possible to bypass it). The third is to change the privacy of such posts so that I cannot see them. If I can't see it, I can't count it. Lastly, if all else, time your post so that I cannot see it, though this is very luck-based as my availability shifts all the time.
If you have any questions, please ask. If you're unsure if a word counts, it will not count against you in the comment, but only when commenting on this note or in a message.
