Why do I get the feeling that even with the current shower like Corbin and Abbopotomous the Labour party won't just bin them off after their next trouncing making them unelectable for another 5 - 10 years didn't they learning nothing from Blair? The only way to get elected as Labour in this country is to try and look like a lite version of the Conservatives.

The Labour party had me solidly supporting them until Corbin came along, they lost me not just because of lacklustre policies, not just because they have become a shambling joke that needs to die, endless pie in the sky thinking, not just because they have two people willing to cosy up to some of the worst people in the world willingly because it support their own narrative - no they lost me because they have become increasingly self-destructive and are no longer about supporting people they are about supporting their own self-interest.

To be honest... we've kind of gone back to the default of politics, or at least it feels that way. Tories rule for 20-30 year blocks followed by short periods of a possible Labour govt followed by another 20+ years of Tory Rule.

Labour's big problem is its basically the successors to the last rabid faction that tried to take charge (and made them unelectable after 79) in Militant Tendancy. The actual core heart of Labour's machine right now is dominated by Londoners which the rest of the country realised long ago don't really think like the rest of us, and certainly not in provincial england where the majority of active voters actually live.

The biggest problem, of course, is that Labour and the Tories are two broad churches which usually have one faction or another in ascendancy and usually there's further factions working in support.

Even now, the Tory party is dominated by a triple threat of Brexiteers, One Nationists and Thatcherite monetarists which make up both the bulk of membership and the PCP. This is why there hasn't been the same feeling of unease on the Tory Party's side despite the fact a good majority of its MPs were backing Remain.

It's also worth noting, that Andrea Leadsom withdrawing also helped to head off a similar split in the party between its membership and Parliamentary contingent, as has happened to Labour. May being a Remainer (albeit reluctant) has helped draw everyone back in quickly as well.

Labour meanwhile has the problem of Momentum. On paper Labour is now easily the largest political party by a country mile, however many of the new members are all from one location: London. This warps the outlook of everyone within the party machine. It also doesn't help that there's basically nobody willing to serve outside of that warped London mindset.

So what you have instead is a core of London Intelligista who can afford to think about Socialism in charge, leaving out the "moderates" which is basically anyone to the right of the Farting Commie, Richard Burgon.

So now whole factional swathes of the party are basically locked out or not listened to, the Social Democrats and the Blairites which make up the majority of the PLP have nothing to do with the actual party machinery, which is a huge problem.

Oh I think the wider Labour Party will change the rules somehow to give Corbyn the boot, or they'll start putting some serious pressure on him to go, maybe even performing a coup just to get the vastly more electable Tom Watson in the top spot.

All I know is Momentum and chums would REEE about it and it will be hilarious!

Anyone actually watching the Corbyn vs May thing? From what I'm hearing Paxo is skewering Corbyn and it's making Leftie Twitter and Champagne Socialists go nuts.

Last time I saw something get that badly grilled it was when I got pissed and made a bacon butty and forgot about it.

Paxo did Paxo to the both of them. It was alright.

But there was the hilarity of Corbyn getting every statement of his raked over by both the audience and Paxo while May got far more normal questions like the NHS, Schooling, Care Fees etc.

Paxo is a bastard but at least he is fair - at least that's what I've always thought.

Corbin got a good and deserved drubbing because nobody outside of his own little bunch of cronies wants him anywhere near power.

I'm calling it now.

Corbyn will lose but will lose by a lower margin than either Brown or Miliband.

Which will fuck some of the "narrative" up thread.

The PLP will either have to shut up or put up at that point, starting their own "social democratic party" maybe.

Corbyn will go to the NEC change the voting rules and resign, and my money is on Keir Starmer to replace him.
Although we might get stuck with an identity politician like Jess Phillips or Stella Creasy for a short "hiccup".

Oh and Tom Watson? this Tom watson?

The SNP just released their manifesto.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-40086276

Sturgeon has backed down and said that she wanted IndyRef2 at the end of Brexit, rather than right in the middle.

The rest is a load of promises about anti-austerity, complete, of course, with a promise to raise UK TAXES, not Scottish taxes, to pay for it all, despite the fact that their manifesto mostly concerns Scotland.

The BBC HYS section on last nights Paxo show is a salty momentum self flagilation fest.

Well today's entertainment has mostly been provided by Barry Gardiner who's main job is to shout at BBC journalists knowing they won't punch him in the throat like most of Fleet Street would.

Oh, and do any of the Tories in this thread want to go an slap George Osbourne right now?

I'd do it for you but I've always wanted to slap him, so it would be nice to give you guys a chance.

I'm pretty sure that even the most extreme Kiwis would love to punch George Osborne in the throat lol.

The thing is he's not like Fatty 2 Jag's he can't punch back, so he's kinda an easy target - if you get him to be able to tag team someone like Borris or Cameron then you'd have a fun game of Cripple Mr Onion.

Guideon became a very rapid and annoying fly. He's able to buzz a bit over at the Evening Standard and that's about it. He can scream and scream but I suspect all that will happen is ES circulation will drop noticeably.

You get a like for mentioning Cripple Mr Onion.

This sort of reminds me when they had a news story on some of the old bonfire night traditions in a few places where they don't always burn Guy Fawkes. If I remember correctly they nixed an Osborne effigy because he was too bland. Yes, Osborne is so useless that he's no good even for kindling.
