Christ, reading Facebook is hilarious, people are behaving as if Corbyn's Labour won the election instead of winning the same number of seats they did under Brown and being 65 short of a majority.

I'm a little surprised May's calling for a five year deal with the DUP on a confidence and supply however. But it seems like they're doing it specifically to shut out Corbyn who backed the IRA to the hilt on numerous occassions.

Similar "purge" threats are now under way from various people on my feeds as well.

Should be noted, that the boundary changes are due in 2018 about the same time as the EU talks should conclude which would hand the Tories another dozen or so seats.

After that the next GE shouldn't be until 2022 when Corbyn and McDonnel will be 73 and and 70 respectively.

EDIT: With Sin Feinn's 7 never turning up, they only need 319 to actually rule, but bringing in the DUP would give them a working majority of 14.

Corbyn supporters have to feel like winners at some point in their lives I suppose. As for DUP and their habit of doing crazy shit I imagine the Tory party will treat them with a firm hand to avoid more embarrassment.

Twitter's even funnier. They're treating the Tory/DUP deal as a massive injustice rather than a 'Superman stays out of Gotham' thing.

How has Corbyn 'backed the IRA' and why is that relevant to today?

Corbyn has called for a united Ireland and attended a memorial service of 8 PIRA members who were killed when trying to sneak over the border to murder british troops back in the 80s. He's invited members of the PIRA to Parliament along with talking about "his friends" in Hamas and Hezbollah.

He's shared platforms with a Jihadi group which was related to the London bridge/Borogh Market attack and basically done everything he could (while a back bencher) to bat for groups he sees as "disenfranchised" but are mostly terroristic arseholes.

It's also relevant as he tends to wander off and offer tea and biscuits to people who're more interested in murdering random people than achieving any real aim.

Despite the "Peace process" there's still a lot of dead bodies and a lot of annoyed people living in Ulster, most of whom this time around piled into the DUP's party giving them 10 seats and wiping out the other nationalist party and the other unionists in Northern Ireland. They're never going to back someone like Corbyn to take over because of his previously expressed views.

They're also a bit fucking irked at his magical claims of being "involved in the Northern Ireland peace process" when most of the heavy lifting was actually done by the Conservatives, DUP and Sin Feinn, before being neatly finalized and ratified by Blair's 1997 government.

Twitter's even funnier. They're treating the Tory/DUP deal as a massive injustice rather than a 'Superman stays out of Gotham' thing.

"WOT? UR NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT!"

Says the people who either voted tactically or were calling for the Governing Progressive alliance of.... Labour, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Greens and Lib Dems to try and shut out the Tories.

He looks like a tard and his policy ideas are all over the place and change every ten seconds.

At least he'll make UK politics more entertaining if Theresa May resigns. Which apparently she is deciding not to.

I've always said this about Boris Johnson, it takes a wise man to play the fool. He's an exceptionally talented writer and has a shrewd mind for politics, two things that contrast with how he presents himself to the general public

Should be noted that CCHQ had to assign a "Boris Wrangler" during the first London Mayor elections to stop him waffling on about ancient greek generals.

It certainly seems wise to have sat back and watched his rivals slash each other to ribbons in the bloodbath of the past few months.

I thought the election would be about Brexit or the NHS but no, it ended up being about people's preferred flavour of extremist micks

The last politician to do anything funny with ancient Greek IIRC was Enoch Powell.

He was approached by two skinheads, and they asked for his autograph (or something to that effect) and he responded with ancient greek.

But yeah, Boris needs a wrangler. A little waffle makes him seem disarmingly silly (which is good) too much might make people think he's a little too mad.

Hmmm DUP are pretty unlikable unless you're Orange as fuck, I'm honestly curious to see which one is going to be tainted by association considering the Lib dems current 'reputation'.

Ian fucking paisley, who would have thought we'd ever care what salty scamp attitude's about anywhere which wasnt northern ireland? Now his ghost gets to shape the EU, which he'd most likely fucking love considering all those Catholic nations.

Going into into coalition with the DUP seems a bit like being held hostage by Chris Chan. You just know all the ransom money will be spent on lego.

If they're smart they won't enter a formal coalition with the Tories until the 11th hour by which time they'll be able to squeeze a shit load of concessions from May most likely some sort of Northern Irish soverenty stuff about Abortions and gay marrige. May isnt exactly noted for her pro-gay record.

As a side note-is this it for UKIP?

The English are getting really Salty about the DUP it seems.

Just the Twitterati due to the fact the DUP's always been there but nobody gave two stuffs about them. It's going to be kind of fun watching the liberal media and twitter try and go at them with the DUP basically telling them where and how to fuck off due to facing far worse than whiny bastards on Twitter.

Bojo's not endorsing her however we're in a bit of a conundrum situation.

She underperformed massively in terms of seats but in votes cast, percentages-wise she has done better than Thatcher, Major and Cameron twice.

Between her and Davidson she's lead to a Tory Revival of Scotland and despite being heavily remain in London there's plenty of places still blue. Heck, they managed to hold Moreley and Outwood on an increased majority and retook Richmond.

But, but and but again.

The Tories managed to pile up decent sized votes for a change... in places they could never have won in a billion years, whilst they then underperformed in various marginals they needed to take, mostly because the Tory Ground War was itself run rather shambolically. This is where there will be a lot of post mortem work and then likely heads will roll. By chasing the UKIP vote (and then bungling it due to the hideous manifesto) in places that were unlikely to flip they neglected various other seats because they assumed it was "in the bag".

One thing to note, Bolsover seems slowly inching towards being turned Tory. The Majority normally 10,000+ has been halved there. Skinner has held that seat since 1970 and has never had a majority under 10,000.

This time around he came in home and dry at 5,200.

Of course, Skinner compared her to Grocer Heath who also launched (and fucked up) a similar snap election with the "Who Runs Britain?" Campaign. People decided to let the Labour Party have a go between 75-79 and the result was The Winter of Discontent.
