In a string of disturbing incidents, three Islamic clerics have been brutally murdered in Uttar Pradesh over the last four days, raising serious concerns about the region’s security.

The first victim, 65-year-old Maulana Farooq, who ran a madrasa in Kadipur village, was fatally attacked with an iron rod on June 8th. According to police reports, the assailant, Chandramani Tiwari, allegedly perpetrated the crime over a monetary dispute, a claim disputed by the family of the deceased.

Similarly, on morning of June 11, Maulana Akram, the imam of a mosque in Bhensia village, Moradabad District, was shot dead by unidentified assailants.

The perpetrators called Akram out of the mosque and shot him at point-blank range. The discovery of his body in his residence sent shockwaves through the community. Police investigations are ongoing, with Akram’s wife Aamna also being questioned regarding the incident.

The latest tragedy unfolded on June 11th, when Fazlur Rahman, a 50-year-old imam from Balla Majra village, Shamli district, was found murdered.

Rahman, accompanied by his mentally disabled son, had gone to a nearby garden for work but never returned. His decapitated body was later discovered, sparking outrage and further intensifying concerns over the safety of religious leaders in the region.

Among several who visited the family of the deceased was Congress leader, Imran Pratapghari, who expressed sorrow over the deaths and demanded an impartial probe.

Senior police officials have assured tightened security measures in the affected areas as investigations into these horrific crimes continue.

This has been a thing since Modi took power - Muslims are often the target of Modi's nationalist rhetoric and have fewer protections in Uttar Pradesh as it's basically India's landfill. It's going to get worse if Modi keeps insisting he's on God's speed dial.

Just another unfortunate day in India. The reason the country has the borders it has today is due to issues between Hindus and Muslims. Hindutva and Jihadism aren't exactly obscure ideas in that part of the world.

wtf i love modi now!

On the one hand: it’s a damn shame…that this didn’t happen somewhere in the West.

On the other: and nothing of value was lost.

Ngl, it'd be funny if pajeets try to win the favor of countries they're flooding by attacking muzzies doing the same thing.

Mr Modi could implement such politics in Europe, just for a while to quiet certain groups down.

Indian Moslem go full Pakistani persecutors of Hindus and Christisns where they've a local plurality. This seems some sordid money squabble, not sectarianism tho.

The first was unrelated, and I am surprised it didn't happen to a rabbi. Money lending can often lead to disputes.

The other two were likely called upon to eat Cowpoo, but said it was haram, and thus had to meet a cow's fate, ironically.

Pakistan has nukes. This is not how you deter a muslim neighbor from using them.

Not very effective ones an not many of them, they also likely wouldn't use them over this Pakistan and India have a very love hate thing going on but both countries kind rely on each other economically and politically over local matters and where issues do flair up they kinda quiet down in short order.

Modi is fanning these flames though especially after this last election and it could cause some real issues domestically but Pakistan wouldn't get involved much unless something really edge case happened and even he's not stupid enough to do that, and he didn't win his last election by a large enough margin for him to even start considering something that would rile up other neighbours into action he just doesn't have that kind of political support now, internally or externally.

Their is one problem though that isn't getting much traction on is Indian Muslims have been causing trouble not just politically but socially too especially in areas where they don't have a majority but denser enclaves, this is stuff like targeting of non Muslims in the area to make them move away, destruction of shops an businesses of non Muslims and a whole host of unsavoury activities so he gets some general support from other communities because he has the Police reign them in some what, so it's kind of a double edged sword for him, especially now that he's got a slightly less of a grip on power.

You can see this because people tend to focus on the Hindu an Muslim things but forget there is a massive Shik population and Christian population as well and they havent been targeted or singled out by his regime let alone some of the even more tiny religious groups and if anything he's gone out of his way to respect them (with a couple of exceptions but from my understanding it's mostly because what they are / where doing was a crime under civil law anyway) and they are just normal members of indian society - fuck if anything the Police, Army an Medical establishment rely on Shiks specifically because they are just dedicated to the idea of community service.

India's biggest problems are Social an Education based, Caste Systems are technically illegal but still a thing outside of larger business and Socially outside of Big Citys are still commonly held across religious groups so if your dark skinned an apply for the same job as a light skinned person you can be more qualified an more experienced an still lose the job to a lighter skinned applicant an then their are things that modify that like if your family ever worked such an such a job knocks you right down the pecking order.

The next problem is Education is still really really spotty and it depends on what you can pay and how dedicated you are to learning - there are some legitimately great education establishments in India but they are EXPENSIVE like comparable to America level of costs for private education but they are small and have extremely limited admittance, and there is the other end where they accept everyone and as long as at the end your fully paid up you get a rubber stamp on a slightly nicer printout (just an aside Indian IT education outside the VERY top end is BAD Tatta Consultancy Services the worlds largest IT company hires people without an IT degree and then retrains them because this is so bad, and they often have to rely on non Indian teachers from the UK an US), Education a real one is valued in India but the problem is always delivery and then the ability to communicate it to those beneigth you in a way they can understand combine that with the Caste system it gets fucky really quickly and then there is corruption.

In the west we tend to forget how non corrupt at a low level our society is, hell you just try bribing a cop when you get pulled over next an see how you get hit with an extreemly serious charge (it exists at a high level but not on a day to day level), but it's prety rife across all sectiors of life across the rest of the world - You want a nice local government office job? well you can call your uncle pay him some money apply for the job some money changes hands an as long as you do the bare minimum of work your golden for a while - it only gets serious at a national level and even then there is corruption just less of it but the higher you get there is less of it untill senior management level.

My Mrs is a partner in a Vet firm and one of the partners is an Indian dude Shik an he travels back an forth a few times a year and is a genuinely nice open bloke who I've sat down with and talked too who has given me the full fucking rundown on this an he has outline exactly why shit like this happens, exactly how it carrys on and why there is no real long term hope for change in the region, and how glad he is to have grown up here because every time he's had to deal with the "Indian" way of doing things he feels like he's lost years off his life span an has helped me out more than once when I'd had to order something from India just to cut through the social an cultural BS.
