Twitter Implements Another Coding Freeze for Engineers

Twitter Inc. has implemented another freeze on software code, meaning that new products and features can’t be shipped unless they are critical, according to three people familiar with the plans.

Twitter implemented a similar freeze when new owner Elon Musk took over in late October, which was explained as a way to keep employees from accidentally or intentionally altering the social media site without permission.

The current action is slightly different, according to two of the people, who requested anonymity because they aren’t authorized to speak publicly. In this case, employees can’t even write new code, the people say, meaning it is a more severe freeze than what the company has previously instituted. It’s unclear why, though the stoppage is expected to continue “until further notice,” one of the people said. Platformer previously reported the issue.

Musk took over Twitter on Oct. 27 and has fired half of the San Francisco-based company’s more than 7,000 employees, including almost all of its most senior executives. Some of those who remain have been critical of the chief executive officer on the service itself, and others worry that the job cuts could lead to outages on the social network or product glitches because there aren’t as many engineers now on the workforce.

Spoliation.

Elon's purchase was retarded on its face but he was essentially forced to buy a company that was very likely misrepresenting their numbers which inflated their valuation.

I would not be surprised if someone caught some fuckery(destruction of evidence of that fraud) and Elon's response was to shut it all down.

Between this and the picture he tweeted of a dying robot, I think there's about to be a botpocalypse.

That, and the trannies are threatening to make more malicious code changes.

Why is this even news? It's not like twitter is in desperate need of new features to write or else it's going to fall over and fail.

Firm agree, the users create all the content. There is VERY LITTLE that twitter employees need to push other than bug fixes, of which there are probably few and low priority.

Wonder how much sabotage was noticed in the time between the last lockdown of the code, and this one?

Probably part of the problem is that the lunatics own the asylum that is Twitter, and the ideological rot is too deep through every level. Maybe some of the maintenance techs in the server farms might not care, but I'll bet every last one of the SF locals would smugly write in destructive code "to show The Man" how rebellious they are.

I know the courts are too corrupt to ever let it happen, but imagine if Elon got some of these idiots sent up the river on hacking charges. The wailing, moaning, and screeching from the press would be loud enough to bring down the walls of Jericho.
