Trump said he was going to do something about it years ago and the lazy sod never did, and Silicon Valley left him be until now because it brought in a lot of clicks, now they are going to do everything they can do get uncle pedo in office and that means silencing him and his reach online.
All the while completely unaware that their pedophile president-to-be has literally the same views as Trump.

Boy did they back the wrong horse.

I didn't know that presidents could repeal laws in the US. When did orange man get legislative powers?

suppose a US citizen has a website in the US owned by an American LLC - and suppose the law say changes and the liability of an American Limited Liability corporation in no longer limited and in these cases goes beyond the assets of the company. This makes it all fall under US law.

suppose the website gets a Venezuelan .ve domain or a .cf Centroafrican domain. Suppose the website is hosted on a few mirrors in countries outside the US.

Suppose the owner is not a US LLC but a company created abroad by someone who is only in name director/owner of the company. This local person, let's call him Igor Ivanov and his company Sperg. So Igor Ivanov opened Sperg in Armenia, Sperg bought the domain in Venezuela, the servers are hosted in a few various countries. Sperg opens various bank accounts.

Then Igor Ivanov signs powers of attorney for the Real Owner in the name of Sperg and gives the Real Owner logins, passwords, etc. Igor Ivanov also hands the Real Owner an undated resignation letter. Should Igor Ivanov actually be a "real director" and touch the money, the Real Owner can fill in the date and show the bank that the transaction was not allowed.

At this point we have an Armenian company owned by an Armenian national. The Armenian company is not a US company and opens bank accounts where it wants without any FATCA reporting. The Armenian company owns and operates the website, which is hosted outside the US and is a foreign TLD.

This reminds me of a structure that is very common in the UK. Your publisher is an offshore corporation owned by an opaque charitable trust. This makes it an absolute nightmare to tax or sue because all the cash ends up offshore.

WRONG.
1. Section 230 is what enables what few competent and confident companies to exist to dare to host a site like this! Companies in other countries without these protections will fold at the first sign of trouble.
2. Without 230, even hosting the site in Estonia (the only country I can think of with similar provisions), I am still legally liable as a person for what gets posted here.

You get it? Do you fucking people get this yet?
Cant you like host in Zanzbar or Somiland where creative content laws are not exactly peoples first priority?

Once again,
1) 100% of my assets besides my person are in the United States and I will not become become a fugitive of the only world superpower for this website that makes no money and has no cultural significance and receives no political protection from any government agency.
2) Companies do not stick their neck out against the US for $50/mo.

There is no such thing as a haven from the United States. The closest you get with copyright and defamation is Taiwan and Ukraine, but there's a lot more on this website besides that.

What happens if Uncle Pedo is elected, though? Won't be so safe then.
True, Biden and the Dems are not the magic Superheros who will save the day if elected but that doesn't mean you can just ignore Trump and the GOPs words and intentions. Both candidates and both Parties have expressed interest in repealing section 230 which means that if any significant legislation moves forward in Congress people need to contact their Senators and Representatives, as futile as it could be, to tell them to vote against it because both candidates would sign the Bill if it got to their desks.

So yeah nothing happened and the panicking retards embarrassed themselves as usual just as I predicted
Hopefully you're right and it's another "end of the world" moment that goes nowhere like Syria or Iran. Don't think it's all over though, as I said above both parties have shown interest in repealing Section 230 so the next Dem or Rep President could easily strike it down in 2026 for all we know.

In the UK Paul Staines aka Guido Faukes used to make a big deal of that, and it probably did discourage some of the usual suspects as well as the no win no fee legal firms, but in reality he personally could always be sued as the beneficial owner of the site.

Also for all his talk about fighting back against vexatious litigation, Stains talks tough but actually does stay well inside the lines when it comes to making allegations. I know of at least one article that mysteriously disappeared from the blog, that did make pretty serious allegations.

Paul Staines is a complete cunt.

Reminder that this is all over a fucking tweet.

Repealing Section 230 is the ultimate cope.

Wasn't it about how platforms like Twitter which control much of the discussion in the world are overstepping their boundries and becoming "publishers" rather than platforms with how they control what thoughts are allowed and what ones aren't?

Like I said: this is all over a fucking tweet. Who the fuck cares.

Lol man this is the same forum which has established that Twitter is one of the reasons Cancel Culture is so bad, so you are the one whose wrong lol.

Because there are literally morons who let Twitter influence their thoughts, dummy.
