I hope there is some justice for Apollo Legend now that he is proven right about Billy Mitchell being a video game cheater.

Apollo was one of the first people that proved Billy Mitchell was a fraud and faked his arcade game records but sadly Twin Galaxies bullied Apollo into suicide.

Rest in peace Apollo Legend, your efforts will not be in vain.

He was actually very late to the game, speedrunners knew that King of Kong and the old TG records were all bullshit for a decade or so before he made his video.

It's under new management now and a lot of the corruption and scandals were in the 00s and 10s. I don't even think they let child molestors like Ron Corcoran (friends with Billy Mitchell and some former Twin Galaxies staff) hang around anymore.

It's seriously insane how crowded with pedos retro arcade high scores are, like almost as bad as the SFWA. It's like they got so good at these games because they hung out in the arcade all day perving on kids.

They were the douches who kept rolling over the high score on a single quarter while actual kids with pockets full of quarters were in line to the back of the arcade desperately wanting to play a single game.
 
Didn't realise there was a thread about Twin Galaxies until this one popped up in the Latest Watched category.

Anyway, just to add to the pile: I've met and observed both Billy Mitchell and Walter Day at a couple of retrogaming cons. This is by no means a powerlevel, but it did provide some useful comparison fodder for what I'd seen of them over the years in video, forum posts, etc.

There are two characteristics that both of them appear to have in common: self-promotion and a complete disregard for anyone who isn't useful to them. They approach that from different angles, with Mitchell being more of an outright douchebag while Day will look you straight in the eye, smile, and shake your hand as he holds a knife behind his back with the other hand. Both operate out of total self-interest and are utterly amoral and unethical. If it somehow advances their respective agendas, it's 100% OK to do.

Day did have one thing over Mitchell, though: creeper vibes. Can't totally put my finger on it, but he struck me as someone who would have roofies in his pocket.

Either way, these people don't deserve the attention they've received. Both are completely awful and increasingly painful to watch as their grasping at past inconsequential glories fails into more recent scandals.
