Well, the mods were deliberately ignoring that thread until this January...When they nuked it.

But I only archived a handful of the recent pages before that happened, so only God knows how much autism that was in that septic tank.

Or they're too autistic to tolerate anyone saying anything bad about The Last of Us 2. They always have to frame it in a way that goes "Well, sooooome people like it!"

The YMMV page for that game is an absolute clusterfuck. For starters, they use the word "detractors" so often you'd think all of it was written by one person. Note how they say the story is "extremely divisive":

This is hardly unique to TLOU2 and is further evidence that all subjective tropes should be banned.


These smooth-brains can't take criticism and will argue sementics until the other party gives up.

On one hand, they don't allow any criticism of things they like. On the other hand, go to the YMMV page of anything with Vic Mignogna in it and you'll find a Harsher in Hindsight or Funny Aneurysm Moment entry about Weeb Wars. For fuck's sake:

It is totally arbitrary.

And since there is no concrete rule on the books, it ultmately comes down to what WarJay et al. FEELS is "hateful."

I also don't necessarily consider a page cut to be a punishment rather than just rule enforcement. They can always just write a review, discuss the work on their troper page, or even attempt to chat about it on the forums.

And if we do reinstate the page, how long before people see it as an invitation to be a lot more volatile and harsh than the "good" haters are being?

Yeah they're completely full of shit. I looked it up and Too Bleak Stopped Caring was originally titled Darkness Induced Audience Apathy, which if the name didn't clue you in was about works that were so grimdark and edgy that you couldn't begin to care about anything in the first place, which does not describe TLOU2 at all. People hate it because it's shit, had an unlikable protagonist and made all the likable characters unlikable. Which is exactly what the eight deadly words apply to.

It's funny because for all intents and purposes WarJay is actually their unpaid jannie since she spends her time answering questions, snitching on ban evaders, and generally being one of those goody-goody tropers that they love so much.

IMO, if you are gonna wish ill on people, you better hit the mark and make sure they fucking deserve it. The word "retard" fits them in every sense of the word and every way. Like my father would say in his accent: These people are not correct (in the head).
 
I am so fucking glad I never made an account there, despite considering registering a couple of times....I cringe at my past optimism.
