It's depressingly accurate.

Sitcoms are character-driven affairs, often focusing on the less-appealing aspects of life and poking fun at them.

It's a feature of humanity which these people simply lack. They are incapable of reacting to Brad's expression in a trivial manner. I guess it's no surprise that they're freaked out by Rocko, Courage TCD, Invader Zim, Classic Spongebob, etc. because they don't follow familiar tropes, or resolve conflicts by the end of the episode.

They associate better with MLP and Pokémon and retreat into that.
I was going to make a dumb joke about how Everybody Loves Raymond was too realistic for them, as they choose to not have normal lives (let alone married lives), but then I remember that a few years ago, they hated Debra with a passion like she was Satan incarnate. That entire YMMV page was listed with tropes shitting on her and calling her abusive. She was the sitcom version to whatever cartoon character hurt their fee-fees.

I could see them relate to getting smothered by a woman like Marie well into their 40's, though.

I don’t think tropers are nearly as chickenshit as their nightmare fuel pages would lead you to believe. They probably see something that they think could be construed as scary and add it. Not because it’s actually scary, but because having more tropes and trope examples = more better in the diseased minds of tropers. So their favorite cartoon deserves fifteen billion nightmare fuel entries, eight trillion crowning moments of funny, four million tearjerkers...

A lot of it reads like a Just For Fun page where people WMG (usual WMG standards of logical sense) about what could potentially raise the eyebrow of at least one sentient being.

It's baked into the site mission. But the more worrying aspect is the way TVT is skewed heavily toward kid's entertainment. Someone on reddit claimed to be able to recite the entire script of FLCL from memory. That's the TVT userbase.

And it does matter. I stopped spending tine there because nobody was going to read the pages I edit. And even if they did (as with the Trials of Mana page), it would be filled to bursting with garbage edits. I'd probably be ashamed to link someone to TVT now.
IMO, Trials of Mana deserves better than the TVTropes crybaby spergs anyways. That game was a classic.

After a depressing visit to the mirror, or an unkind word from a pretty girl, now I can check in on the NF cleanup thread and feel better about myself.

Fuck yo maze, dipshit! I came to fur affinity to see all kinds of beasts and beasties lewding each other, and you can take your maze and shove it so far up your ass that it will crawl out your mouth.
This is gold. Try saying it in the Bowery King's voice.
