Every single consequence of immigration is immaculate and brilliant.

People making relatively straightforward observations on the potential downsides of it must be the devil, and it does not humanise them in any way.

More seriously, conflicts such as that over immigration would allow for much more pathos and be more thought-provoking if modern artists presented it more neutrally and in a less preachy manner. Even leftists like Sanders used to observe that, in the context of modern corporations, etc., immigration could cause an earnest sense of unease among the nation's working class. The issue is increasingly being portrayed in a one-sided manner because 'muh fascism,' however.

Has it been mentioned recently that the forums look awful and are terrible to read? Every time I go there, I'm always a little surprised by how bad the layout is.
 
I know i'm jumping in here out of nowhere, and someone may have said something similar to this, but I think i've figured why I hate TvTropes, other than their insanity and shitty politics.

Tropers are the types of people killing creativity in culture. Like the good autists they are, they don't want creativity, they want things they can put in their boxes, identify and list. They've somehow turned characters, complex ideas, and philosophies into a cultural bureaucracy, where everything can be labeled and put in to the right bin. In the process, they make people think "I just need to check all the boxes and I'll be good!" or worse, "Oh all these ideas have been done already, so my creation is worthless." You can say I'm being hyperbolic, but I know it's happened.

Worse, it's either taken the complex ideas and watered them down so room temperature IQ people can feel smart and "get it" after having it explained by a loser on the internet with no life, or come up with the most abstract, wrong, and mind-bendingly moronic interpretation you can find. I would know, I used to use TvTropes a good bit. But now I can't stand the site because its staffed by insane morons who circle-jerk and inform other morons into thinking they are hip and on top of whatever's popular.

I would pay the toll and find something stupid on the site, but I can't stand it anymore, and frankly getting all this off my chest is a good therapeutic way to end my day.

Oh god, and I forgot how literal children's shows scare these people, as if I couldn't tell the place is run by children or manchildren.

It's not just TVT that's responsible for killing off creativity. You have places like the rpgnet forums thought policing your ideas. Another cult or two that gets angry over how you design your characters. ResetEra, for putting trans rights before video games...

The list goes on, but that's just the way society is, right now.

That stuff is classic Troper autism, though, not the thought policing shit that has actually destroyed the site. That kind of autistic nonsense is what the site is for, and it's always funny to go to shows for little kids and read people raving about Nightmare Fuel in it.

What I couldn't take anymore was the puritan environment it became when fan bias won out objective cataloguing of trope data. The entire site is even more worthless than wikipedia. I seriously didn't fathom back then that something like that was even possible, but here we are now.
