I get that it's a small little country that most people mix up with Paraguay and we're not even a blip in the awareness of most people in the world. But for fuck's sake, how hard it is to spell 'Uruguay'? Have some professionalism!

It's even more inexcusable given the average web browser has a built-in spell checker that should catch those errors.

Guess which pages these are from.

Two things: One, try not to multi-post, mods here are not keen on cleaning that up.

Second, read that, and yeah, they hit the nail on the head in many regards.

One of the worst things about fandoms is when they are not the primary focus of a site but become the tail wagging the dog anyway, and that is a huge problem for TV Tropes. My own fork All The Tropes, I'll let others be the judge how more or less bad it is, but when we started, we wanted to put the actual primary mission of cataloging tropes first. I personally never got the insane obsession with certain fandoms and how their fans were apparently obsessed with turning TV Tropes into a shrine for them myself, but I can't deny the ugly result of that is ruining any value of the primary site mission to being a shrine for fan autism.
Can you please provide the specific link? Tried to search for it, but three other sites had "All the Tropes" on their URL.

Thx.

Our main branch is hosted on Miraheze:

Yours truly maintains a Wikia branch here:

In case I didn't mention it prior, both are their own independent sites technically, but due to my association with both as founder, are two wings of the same parent, meaning they share a lot of overlap in terms of rules and culture. Their clientele tend to be different (most people who did not want to trope on Wikia stick with the Miraheze branch), but that's deliberate, as either is valid for your preference.

TV Tropes' staff are aware I run both and that both are "All The Tropes", just with different target audiences.

Thanks.

I can't even go to the main site anymore. I swear, I'm tempted to, but I've put it off for months now after it became too apparent that the quality has floundered. Even before I discovered this thread, I and a few friends kept noticing inconsistencies every now and again. Too many to list here, but it would crop up more often these days. Back about two years ago in the Beyblade Burst characters section, Valt and Shu respectively had "Puppy Love" in their list of tropes. This wasn't in the YMMV page, but the characters. It took almost a year after I saw it to be removed. And, even before that, this incessant need to ship everything under the sun is just...wow.

Here's a story. Years ago, I was working in a small company. On break, I decided to browse the Ben 10 wiki to catch up on some info (this was before it became a corporate sellout of a show). Imagine my surprise when I checked up on Ben's profile, and there, written for all to see, was a section dedicated to meticulously pointing out every action and cue to indicate that Ben and Kevin had a thing for each other. That was my very first exposure to the more autistic side of shipping.

Yes, believe it or not, there was a time, long, long ago, that it was all for jolly good fun, and not some life or death battle to determine who was gonna bang who. Being a registered wiki editor, I deleted it, stamped in my warning, and that was the end of it. Never again did it show up.

I'm also a registered user (read: was) in the main TVT site, but I haven't touched it in years, and lost any interest to since the mods would always edit shit constantly.

Tropers dislike how Tifa was designed in FF7 Remake:

"You know someone that they should've fixed but didn't? Tifa, visually she still looks like a supermodel rather than a MMA fighter. You think she'd have a noticeable six-pack considering she can bench press tanks through nothing but pull ups, push ups, and plenty of juice, not any of the Convenient Sci-Fi Bullsh*t Cloud has."

"Yeah, I wish Tifa was a jacked woman as well.

"A. Some things that were with the original could stand to be changed and for the better. You know, like Tifa's "stop being a retard" line. Somebody could easily make the same argument to keep it to "be faithful to the original".

B. Yeah, the whole "why are you expecting realism" thing is not really a good argument. It comes off as an blanket excuse, especially for a choice of character design."

Though I guess it shouldn't be too surprising. After all, TV Tropes users general prefer strong female characters like Samus Aran to be only portrayed as being jacked and muscular, and seeing female characters that do lots of physical activities but still remain generally model-esque is apparently too much for them to overlook. Seems like they have a type.

Fucks sake this is the same game that introduced convoluted Nomura Time Travel bullshit to the series and this is what ruins there immersion
