I'm surprised TV Tropes have articles on people like E;R, Mister Metokur and Mauler. What do you think of them? My TVT autism isn't that much since I haven't really read the site for years, but I wonder how well written those articles are.
They do seem surprisingly neutral (at least on the WebOriginal pages) and not overly hostile or slanderous to said internet celebrities.
I think the idea of "subjective tropes isn't bad in the sense that some might be "controversial" say calling someone a Mary Sue. However, it seems like instead of them being about "tropes", in reality, they are really just an excuse to blog under the guise of a "trope".
"They wasted a perfectly good plot"= Tropers ranting about authors not doing what they wanted.
Les Yay and ho yay or whatever they are called are even worse: It's just tropers making gay ships. Two characters of the same gender happen to be friendly with each other? That must mean they are gay and they are totally in love you guys! Who Cares if they are heterosexual in canon?
How do you continue to read my mind? What kind of sync do we actually have?
My very last venture into TVTropes was to browse Kill la Kill after I first finished. Even though the entire concept of it is autistic as hell (seriously, categorizing every little trait of every story into running themes; get a life), it can be fun to still read sometimes.
I not only had to close it halfway, but I think I even registered just to edit it out and call out the utter bullshit I saw.
First example was the classic feminism angle trope: "MEN ARE WORTHLESS"
Just because Hollywood has to bring men down to prop up their pathetic female characters, doesn't mean KLK did. Stop projecting your agenda onto it. From what I recall, KLK was completely equal with how men and women were portrayed. Yeah, it was a female story at its heart (it was Ryuko's story, with Satsuki playing a major role in it, so it dealt with a lot of themes more relevant to young women than men), but that doesn't automatically mean men were worthless or disrespected in it.
Another trope they used to justify this was the one that most of people in it die. IE, the majority were male.
....What the fuck. As far as I can remember, 4 people in the entire show died, and it was split right down the middle: 2 men, 2 women.
Dr. Matoi, Senketsu, Ragyo, and Nui
And if they were literally talking canon fodder (IE, the background characters that are just numbers and don't matter).... Wow, I don't think I've ever seen grasping at straws harder in my life.
And for the cherry on the shit cupcake, I believe I also saw a prime example of what you listed here: that OMG MAKO AND RYUKO ARE TOTALLY GAY AND RYUKO IS A PROUD LESBIAN ICON11111!!
Even though 1. Ryuko was clearly seen flustered around nude men throughout the entire series, very obviously pointing out she's straight; nor is her sexuality really ever brought up in any capacity or relevant.
2. The thing is, they site the "date" with Mako in the final episode. But what they don't get is a "date" between females in Japan is not the same thing as what a "date" is in the west. I guess they also completely ignored Gamagoori's obvious attraction to Mako (hinting they'd wind up together) and the fact Mako and Ryuko also brought along Satsuki on the date.
In Japan, a date is simply an outing with your girlfriends; something most normal girls do. Also note that even in the west "girlfriends" between women also doesn't mean romantic either.
Anyway, it's Ryuko's story, and she starts off as a directionless and bitter tomboy deliquent, entirely on her own; the entire story is about her maturing into a normal girl with actual people who matter now in her life, which is what she's always wanted, so to end it with a 'date' with her girlfriends, that's the completion of her arc. It's so fucking obvious if you actually WATCH the show, rather than distort it through one's own warped lens.
I get that's how these idiots are, but Christ, the fact it's on TVTropes as actual information to misinform others is what really pisses me off. More textbook hijacking of sources to distort the truth.
.....Phew. I can relate, in any case, haha. Rant over.
In a way it makes sense that the woke crowd is depraved. I mean, there's incels, cdossdressers, that mod that I showcased an few pages back, trannies...
Honestly at this point i think depravity is the norm among most crowds.I look at those televangelists and somehow i doubt any of them are 'pure'.Difference is conservatives tend to be a lot more hidden with their activities. But if i was a betting man i would bet most conservative politicians are not that much 'pure' than most 'liberal'.Lets be honest here. Its also one reason why for me news that X politician is cheating never bothered me.The better question is which isn't.

I don't remember. I think I Just typed in "Kill la kill TVtropes" on Google and read everything going down the list. The format might've changed since last year though.

You have to be more specific, otherwise, you're just sperging out. I suspect that tropers aren't unaware of this thread and sometimes edit pages to piss people who don't buy their shit off. That being said, even before how it's become a bloated, obese neckbeard of a site, it always had a lot of misinformation. Most of their "research" consists of 60% Twitter, 20% news, 10% archives, and 10% the actual source material.
It's even better when some of them are STILL talking about child porn in their forums.

I've never cared to frequent TT past just reading some of the "tropes" of shows I cared about. That's all.
When I said "Google, Kill la Kill TV Tropes" that's what I mean. That's as deep as I've ever gone.

Two things: One, try not to multi-post, mods here are not keen on cleaning that up.
Second, read that, and yeah, they hit the nail on the head in many regards.
One of the worst things about fandoms is when they are not the primary focus of a site but become the tail wagging the dog anyway, and that is a huge problem for TV Tropes. My own fork All The Tropes, I'll let others be the judge how more or less bad it is, but when we started, we wanted to put the actual primary mission of cataloging tropes first. I personally never got the insane obsession with certain fandoms and how their fans were apparently obsessed with turning TV Tropes into a shrine for them myself, but I can't deny the ugly result of that is ruining any value of the primary site mission to being a shrine for fan autism.
