Its pretty dumb bringing in alternative timelines to prove who is worse in the real timeline because theres probably hundreds of alternative timelines where the USA and USSR killed everyone on Earth via nuclear holocaust

Everyone on Earth is a gross exaggeration (World War 3 death toll would probably have been in the hundreds of millions - low billions depending on the era http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/nuclear/nuclearwar1.html), but Douglas MacArthur's extreme appetite for destruction is definitely worth considering. There wasn't so much difference between the warmongering politicians of that era, and without nuclear deterrence we'd probably have had a few more world wars by now. Don't trust politicians further than you can throw them generally.
 
What makes Francisco Solano Lopez right wing?I mean he was in the XIX century and had dreams of conquering South America.Newsflash communism also wanted at first to launch a campaign of conquest.Just ask the poles in 1920.If wanting to conquer the world makes you right wing you'll have several left wingers in that group as well.

Hey. Long-time lurker, first post and all that. I used to be part of the community, although I never really participated in the "in" conversations on the forums. I was friends with a number of regulars, though, and somehow got into a Discord server ran by a couple of them. I got out as fast as I could, and without any parting words, once I noticed that things reeked of SJW-ism. Haven't got on the forums/TVTropes-affiliated Discords since.

Also, like many in this thread, I noticed that "tropers" seem to latch to "edgy" deconstruction BS, e.g. Evangelion, and the like. I honestly wonder why. Probably because it's their brand of "subversive", although I'm not quite sure.

ETA: Feel free to ask about the TVTropes Discord shitshow.

Do they? I thought tropers were manchildren obsessed with children's cartoons and considering anything edgy to be "nightmare fuel" and "mean-spirited". Of course there are also perverts who write edgy MLP fanfiction to express their lust for pony sadism, but that's the clash of a childish brain with grotesque desires (see the execution scene in Sonichu 10).

Evangelion I would imagine is popular because of the underage schoolgirl characters and to a far lesser extent the pretentious cod philosophy. I've never seen it but it looks just like the kind of shite that "Actually, it's ephebophilia, and real socialism hasn't been tried yet" types would like. If they were just into edgy deconstruction they'd be obsessed with Game of Thrones, and I haven't really noticed that.

If you take a quick peek at the “WMG” (their lingo for “exceptional fan theories”) page for a mainstream/semi-mainstream show, you’re bound to find a theory that references either Evangelion, Madoka, MLP, Doctor Who, or all of them. I’ve seen a WMG try to link Madoka to Atlantis (the Disney movie), of all things.

That quip about “real socialism hasn’t been tried yet” made me remember something: an user, who participated in the TVTropes discord, stated that they unironically advocated for “fully-automated luxury communism”.
 
I know virtually nothing about the show but I'd imagine Evangelion to be a dystopic take on Christianity, and what's edgier than saying bad things about God?

just to ask when exactly did you break ties. I’m asking because I was a former member as well and I’m wondering if we might have interacted at one point.

I started to participate in forum shit around late-2016, and cut ties with a handful of TVTropes-associated discords/people in mid-2018.

I set up my first account on 2015 (Around the same time as the second avengers movie don’t ask me how I remember something as specific as that). I started becoming involved in the forums in early 2016. My first permaban was in the middle of that same year). Since then I’ve ban evaded quite a few times with my lastest ban occurring earlier this year (I have not made another attempt since then).
 
One thing I noticed is that there were a lot of MTF troons in both the forums and off-site platforms. Predictably enough, they don’t even try to pass.

Speaking of, I had the terrifying courtesy of dealing with the infamous Adric a few times. I’ll probably elaborate on that.

I can only offer my deepest sympathies. Interacting with Adric is a terrible experience no human should ever have to partake in.

Nah. All the religious imagery and names is mostly "because it looks/sounds cool". It's mostly about aliens and mecha genre deconstruction
