Don't you see? All you need is a couple of similarities and the universes are shared! I bet that The Hobbit and MLP FIM are a shared universe!

Sarcasm aside, I do like tv tropes. What I don't like how they have an obsessive, autistic boner for documenting and listing tropes, turning them into more of a check list for people to tick off. Instead of a decent character people with just pull a few tropes out like say, Magnificent Bastard, Angry Black Guy and Sexy Jester (all real tropes on tv tropes btw) and say "Yep, that's my character, that's Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way."

A few years ago, I think maybe 4, I helped make a trope page and gave an example using Ratchet and Clank. I'll try and find what it was.

Has anyone looked into what these ads were? I only just saw these, the "echo chamber" one caught my eye

Also I found the page that I helped create. It needed a couple of examples for it to become an "official" trope, mine was one of the examples.

Just popping in to say can someone tell these autists that something they really liked in a canon not being the center of attention for an entire arc does not equal "they wasted a perfectly good plot"? Or that a major character developing in a different way than the vocal minority wanted does not equal "they wasted a perfectly good character"?

While I already concur with that, I'd like to add they are committing another act of face palmery because those tropes aren't used for those purposes.

The first refers to a plot point that is poorly fleshed out despite a promising start and ends like a wet fart, but it doesn't mean something obviously not intended to be the center of attention that remains a side detail qualifies.

The second means the entire point of a character in terms of their usage in a plot is overall weak and disappointing, it has nothing to do with character development, at least not entirely.

Not only is the "Lynn is trans" thing crazy, but why would Luann be a lesbian? Or maybe it's another work of a crazy Luann fan.
That fandom is filled with some crazy motherfuckers, such as cheering on the news of Stephen Hillenberg getting Lou Gehrig's disease, and multiple incest fanfictions. So this does not surprise me one bit.
They actually cheered for someone just because they thought they were going to die and get their least favorite show cancelled? Look what happened when the creator of THEIR SHOW had a scandal: nothing happened to it! Don't they even know that SpongeBob went on without its' creator for many years until Stephen returned?

Apparently Echo Chamber links to a web show of some sort.

There is a significant portion of the fandom that is obsessed with pairing Luanne up with a background character that, according to the wiki, only showed up in one episode:

(At least it's not more pedo incest, though.)

Even more reason those tropes need to be either put to sleep or rebuilt from the ground up.

The entire site should be put to sleep. It started out somewhat fun but became bloated and dumber by the year. Now its largely controlled by SJW 's who are interpreting everything through their worldview.

  • While Butch Hartman's brand of humor and style of writing are divisive, he still had a strong fanbase. However, he started to alienate some fans via his YouTube channel due to his overuse of clickbait, grandiose attitude, apparent inability to take criticism and the doubtful conditions of his OAXIS Entertainment Kickstarter. Ultimately, Hartman scourged himself in July 2018 when it was revealed that he was actually selling OAXIS Entertainment as a network to convert children into Christianity. He received heavy backlash over this as he initially promised that the Kickstarter was for a family based entertainment service, which painted him as a liar and manipulator in the eyes of many long time fans. Even fellow Christians and people who don't mind religion were angry with him. Coupled with several poor taste tweets he had posted around the same time, such as a "joke" stating that Mary Kay Bergman committed suicide because of Tara Strong, note along with several comments that mocked a fan with Lets See You Do Better, alleged transphobia, and liked videos promoting pro alt-right/Gamergate themes, and Hartman quickly turned from being one of the most beloved animators in the industry to one of the most hated.

Just admit you want the guy dead, jfc

That's because, despite Chris Savino coming up with the show idea and pitch, he wasn't involved with anything beyond that (plus, I think, once you have a series greenlit to Nickelodeon, it's not yours anymore, unless you fight the execs for it. With Cartoon Network, the show is yours, unless you step down, get fired, or it gets cancelled). It's kind of like what happened to Skyler Page and his show "Clarence" on Cartoon Network (though with "Clarence", that was also because Page's writing partner, Spencer Rothbell, did more with the show).

All of this is speculation, of course. I'm not a Hollywood insider, but I do like following trivia and behind the scenes drama on TV shows and movies. Some of it may be true and some may not be true. I welcome all corrections.

I remember back in the aughties you could have the best time getting lost in that site. Then again, it was also a time where the Moral Dissonance page had Team Rocket fans whining about Ash forgetting to say thank you if Team Rocket held a door for him, so I guess the disease was always there and just looking for a good chance to take over.

The whole page is further proof that tropers are a bunch of spineless pussies, but for this one in particular
  • When you fail Tiny Wario's boss stage, "Wario Dance Company", the other three dancers know when you mess up, WITHOUT EVEN HAVING TO LOOK AT YOU. As silly as it may sound, there's just something unsettling about these dancers. They're definitely deep in the Uncanny Valley — their bodies are feminine and they wear skintight suits, but they also have Wario's face, and without eyes — and it's something of a Jump Scare when you fail and they all turn and point at you almost immediately.
For those that never played these games, he's talking about this...

...That's what they call "nightmare fuel"? So these guys don't just think this is scary, they find it so scary that they lie awake at night. I can only imagine how that plays out.

"Oh god, the dancers, the dancers... they were so neon colored... and t-then they pointed at me because I fucked up.. and they didn't even LOOK at me... oh god I just fucking pissed all over myself"
