What gets me is that Jackula emphasized that both sides were awful and that he chose to remain neutral. He specifically didn't want to pick a side, but he didn't want to demonize anybody. All he wanted was to understand both sides of the issue. That doesn't make him a "defender," it makes him the most mature.

Not only do Sith deal in absolutes, so do tropers.
