  • A subtle example that even fans might not have noticed—they stopped using words like "crazy" or "insane", often cited by mental health advocates as an example of ableist language, as it uses mental illness in and of itself as an insult. At the same time, they started using the arguably-funnier "buckwild" in places where words like crazy or insane might commonly be used. They never drew attention to the change, and it might just be a branding or humor decision, but it would fit entirely that they decided to find an alternate term.

That also reminds me, in the Film Diversity and Representation Thread, one of the SJWs that always posts there complained about how using words like "dumb", "stupid", "idiot", "moron" as pejoratives is ableist, even though no one uses those words in their clinical sense anymore.

As far as I remember, last time I visited that thread, he started using the word "boob" instead, even though it doesn't occur to him that might be a "gendered slur" (which he has also sperged about).

I'll see if I can find the post.

Lemme guess, it was Adric who said that.

It was RBluefish. He's one of those spergs who, shortly after the elections, changed his avatar to the US flag upside-down, and then to the flag in the Rebel Alliance symbol.

Here's him white-knighting Black Lives Matter being violent.

Remember everyone, being violent and confrontational is perfectly fine as long as you're black wait what.

As I mentioned, he's a regular on SJW threads like Film Diversity and Representation, Race and Privilege, etc.

He has also said that he used to be a misogynist until reading some article, and now he spends his type whining about how he is marginalised due to a lack of representation (he is half-Asian), but because he is half-white, he is privileged as well.

I'll try to find those posts too.

My god, he sounds worse than Adric. Also, anyone with an upside down US flag as their avatar is exceptional, especially Fighteer.

the whole Big Beautiful Man trope is fucking vile
First of all, 95% of Channel Awesome aren't "conventionally good-looking." About the only guy you can really say that about is Benzaie. Most of them are just plain or outright ugly (though it amuses me they seriously think Doug is conventionally good-looking).

Secondly, Linkara is certainly big but he ain't beautiful. And Sean Fausz is more hideously fat than big beautiful.

About 90% of that trope is "I WANNA FUCK THIS GROSS FAT DUDE"

I noticed we have the same entry, and since I don't know shit about this subject, anyone who wants to edit it sound less fetishy has my blessing.

As for the trope itself, it's one of those tropes that is legit, it's possible for a guy to be obese or stocky but still come off as attractive regardless in their portrayal (generally because they have the charisma to pull it off), but you have to make sure it doesn't become a page where the editors visit and edit with one hand too.

Talking about TGWTG I've noticed recently how reluctant TVTropes are to talk about the recent Twitter incident where a lot of the old guard came together and talked about how awful their time was there.
