Don't you love TvTropers not reading their tropes?
Ambiguous Gender Identity has cases of the same error where they forget that it's supposed to be another Trans Audience Interpretation page, as well as the whole concept of gender and sex being separate, and sometimes assign it to explicitly nonbinary characters.

It actually makes me question: How many people ACTUALLY participate on the site? I don't mean people who just browse the site for curiosity without making an account, I mean people who actually take time to participate in the community and add stuff to the pages.

From what I've seen looks like a very small circle that is actually ruinning the whole site, and considering how toxic they are I wouldn't be suprised if a lot of people who did make contributions just said "fuck it" and left.
I imagine a lot of people are like me: Got into TVT for the articles, tried participating in forums only to find out the userbase are a bunch of smug manchildren and powermods who ban you on a whim, then just went back to articles and never tried again.

You got it right; these people are incredibly toxic and tvtropes is designed in a way where you're the bad guy if you try to stop them. A long time ago, I made a formal report against some guy who was babysitting a page and deleting pretty much every edit that wasn't added by him. Did the whole song and dance with the community page too for an "open dialogue". 2-3 posts in and everyone had already taken his side, without even sparing a thought as to how weird it is that he's trying to be a petty tyrant over a character page. There's no winning if you play by their rules, the "Beg the mods to unban you" forum is proof enough of that.

No one debated this. People trying to be edgy parroted it as a joke. It's a cartoon. Fish don't talk and don't scour the ocean for their kid they had a big fight with either.

I'll give the site one thing...even it will let Sonichu have a page, where Wikipedia refuses to acknowledge Chris-chan's existence. Even the Wikipedia page for the farms skirts around actually mentioning Chris by name. Makes me wonder what hoops they'd jump through to justify this if the page wasn't locked and someone edited in Chris' name...

What other tropes?

Something related to living in an multicultural household, being an target if potential racism (which we all know isn't going to happen), some parenting issues, etc.

But it's heavily sanitized, unfortunately. All because the jannies were too lazy to handle a fair bit of raiding.

So that Gwen bit from Spider-verse? When they started pushing the idea that Gwen was trans (obviously testing the waters to see if it would go over), interest in th character dropped to near zero. Peni Parker, the anime Spider-Woman, had a massive explosion in interest in direct response. People started shipping her with Miles, she got way more art, became a sensation overnight like she was when the first film came out. Mostly from hispanic countries as I recall, but a healthy amount of Americans and Japs were participating. It didn't help that when the film came out, they quickly buried Gwen/Miles relationship in favor of some cuckold bullshit with Spider-Punk.

No one wants Gwen to be a trans allegory, because no one likes them. They want cute girls, despite what gender confused nuts on Tvtropes say.

So, instead of actually processing appeals, the jannies had chosen to ban an user who made an new account and admitted that there's no restricitons placed on his previous one. But I do see an resolved edit war from their old account, though

Nonbinary parents are not a thing. Usually by the time you have kids, you've grown out of that nonsense
People tend to troon out right before they hit middle age, usually after their kids are ready to head out to college
