Why? Was it for being mean spirited?
Basically yes; indeed many "tropes" used in that page (such as the "You Fail X Forever" series that pointed out misconceptions and fallacies in works of fiction, or those that took personal jabs at authors) have been deleted wholesale. Another reason was that there have been edit wars and their mods hated having to listen to users complaining.

Another possible reason was that the page attracted users from ED, and of course Fast Eddie and ED didn't mix.

for context, this was in the middle of a discussion on the whole fox vs Disney marvel thing in a spider man thread.

i think im gonna need more context for this to make sense

I'm guessing they're complaining about the fact that Fox has the movie licenses for several Marvel Comics properties like the X-Men, Fantastic 4, Deadpool, etc that makes it very difficult to make MCU movies with those characters. Which would be related to Sony's ownership of the Spiderman license/recent negotiations regarding.

Didn't Marvel finally caved in to SJWs and turned Mary Jane black in this movie to not seem racist?
fun fact, there's certain gene of albinism that makes black people and other minorities have red hair. which can justify why some black chick has red hair because Mary Jane isn't Mary Jane without it.

This just goes to show how far TV Tropes has drifted from actual tropes in storytelling. Continuity errors aren't tropes, and really aren't worthy of listing every single example in fiction.
TV Tropes has never been about tropes in the strict literary sense (metaphors and narrative conventions), but "shit I notice in children entertainment".

that might be because tv tropes is less about tropes and is now more of this media trivia website. sure, it may have some tropes here and there, but there's also some trivia, joke stuff, and whatnot. might be because of it's niche being mostly under 30 fans of tv shows, movies, comics, or any sort of media really, so it has to appeal to those sorts of people.
