As for my personal opinion, I have to admit I had a very poor opinion of the guy, will not lie about it.

However, that was long before I had his job. As I found myself in a position of authority and having to deal with cancerous autist perverts, jackasses, trolls, and other scum, my position on him has softened somewhat.

That does not mean I like everything he does nor what TV Tropes does (which is why I founded my own alternative), even admitted as much to him personally, but considering how many creepy assholes and downright pricks he's had to deal with (and I checked, many were genuine, Nate Spidgewood is one who has driven the both of us up the wall especially), I find it hard to fault him, to a fairly large extent, for being bitchy.

Given I've had to do his job for some time now, I really can't fault him for snapping at people, anyone who would have to be top mod over a site full of potential autistic drama llamas would certainly lose a lot of their self control and be pissy.

Overall, as a person, we're respectful to each other, and I've kept him in the loop concerning efforts to keep drama down between our two sites, and he's even been kind enough to exchange seasons greetings with me.

I don't fault anyone who criticizes him or even me, I believe it's healthy to have our glory and dishonor highlighted equally, though I will say anyone who writes him off as one dimensional asshole who is in love with the banhammer has a really one-sided impression, though I won't say it's completely without truth to it either, though it would be unduly cruel to assume that's all there is to his character regardless.
 
What gets me is that the page is still edit locked and it's been a year and a half now since Jessica Jones came out. Like they're still worried that their rape culture thing will be gotten rid of if they let filthy commoners get their mitts on the page.

Once something gets locked on there they never fucking unlock it.
 
But wait, wasn't that character played by David Tennant? How can they speak ill of a David Tennant character? Isn't he a god of nerds?
 
I saw this nugget of joy on The Nostalgia Critic's "Critical Research Failure" page:
  • He misgenders Lana Wachowski in "Top 11 Strangest Couples" by referring to "The Wachowski brothers". He at least corrected this one, referring to them as the “Wachowskis” in all following reviews, and has tried to make it clear that he's proud of her (and her sister Lilly) for spreading transgender awareness despite not liking much of their work.

Oh yes, pretty much every SJW 'tism can be found in Doug's YMMV page. Much more than in Linkara or Lindsay's pages, which is weird since they were known as the most "feminist" of the angry critics circle. Maybe Doug just attracts tumblrettes more?
