I see it as similar to them screeching about Titans Go or something similar. You can tell them the reality of the situation but because it isn't EXACTLY as they remember it (let alone not not aimed for them), it will fall on deaf ears.

I dislike TTG as much as the next guy, but the massive throbbing hateboner TV Tropes has for it would make AM jealous.

For the Tropers who frequent the On-Topic Conversations subforum, it would be Trump, Trump supporters, conservatives, anyone who has different political opinions and isn't as far to the left as they are or who supports their freedom of speech, etc.

I don't think it helps that ATT won't let them edit jack shit without Geth and the other admins finding out who they are if they showed their true colors.

Bingo. Wikia is harder to police because anyone can just wander over to our wiki from any of the others on their network, which, given it's size, makes filtering out the creeps a lot harder, while it's much easier to curate our Miraheze fork because it's smaller and we have better controls for winnowing out the sick fucks.

I also forgot to mention that if I leave the Wikia fork to rot, someone else who will possibly have less scruples and decency may take over because Wikia does allow people to take over wikis whose founders left them to die.
