I don't know if this makes it better or worse, but that really is what the show is about.
It's possible that something like that could happen. It's the Tropers' autism dealing with it that's the problem.

Supa Soap 101: For this Troper, it was the Pepsi Next Baby Commercial. The ad shows a mother caring for her newborn child, when suddenly the father comes in with a box of Pepsi Next. The next following scenes show the parents being so excited about the soda, and ignoring their child, who displays amazing talents! This commercial displayed how bad some parents are, to where they care more about a soda over their own child! A. Fucking. Soda. It also angers me, because this troper also was ignored through most of his childhood. If these were real parents, then they would've had their child taken away by Child Services.
Darth Josh: In one episode of Crayon Shin-chan, Hima kept bothering Mitzi. However, she crosses the line when she damages a magazine her mother's trying to read. Instead of punishing Hima, Mitzi hits Shin for no reason. What the fuck? Why hasn't she been arrested for child abuse yet?
- Ecclytennysmithylove: It's probably because Mitzi thought all the crayon doodles drawn in her magazine were Shin's doing. Either way, that ending is still not justified!
Animeking1108: Episode 263, which was titled "The Osaka Double Mystery - Naniwa Swordsman and Toyotomi's Castle", had the infamous scene where Heizo struck Heiji for "getting in the way." First, everyone objects to it (even Kogoro, who has no problems striking children), but then everyone just calls it "Tough Love." Umm, no. Tough love is smacking your children for doing something stupid. What Heizo did was full-blown child abuse. The chief of police more than anybody should know that striking your children until they bleed is abuse.
- Nikita123: Agreed. This is not Values Dissonance. Even though Heizo stated that he did it to "motivate" Heiji into luring out the bad guys or whatever, it doesn't change the fact that what he did was outright abuse. I'm surprised that he got away with it despite everyone being around when it happened.
- DarkLadyCelebrian: "The Old Switcharooms". Deedee and Dexter break their dad's long-awaited bowling trophy and are sent to each other's rooms as punishment instead of their own. Reasonable, seeing as their rooms are basically a Toys R Us and an advanced research laboratory and it's a more effective punishment to ground them in rooms that don't contain things that appeal to them. However, Dexter goes absolutely ripshit because he thinks Deedee is messing up his lab while he's not there, and he ends up going on a rampage and completely trashing Deedee's room. Okay, he overreacted and trashing the room wasn't cool, but it's Dexter and judging by Deedee's past behaviors, I could see where he was coming from. But then his dad finds out Dexter's trashed the room and what does he do as punishment? Make Dexter sleep in the doghouse in the rain. This isn't The Fairly OddParents! or Family Guy, Dexter's parents are not Abusive Parents by characterization, so this was completely out of left field. Dexter's Laboratory is not the appropriate cartoon to be playing child abuse for laughs!
youwantit: In one strip, after fantasizing about space, Calvin tells his dad that he wishes he could go to the moon. For me, the low point of Calvin and Hobbes is his dad's reaction, "I wish you would too." Sure, Calvin's dad is a huge Deadpan Snarker, but telling your own son you want him to go to the moon with barely anything to warrant it isn't just sarcastic; it's flat-out abusive.
heartauthor: "The Hero" immediately makes it onto this list due to Nicole and Anais pelting Gumball and Darwin with cupcakes made of cement and then denying them necessities like bathing and food simply because the boys said that Richard didn't amount to much, and that hurt Richard's feelings. Not only does the entirety of "The Job" add weight to Gumball and Darwin's claims, but Nicole and Anais get absolutely no comeuppance for behavior that would normally warrant a call to Child Protective Services.
The amount of Dethroning Moment of Suck entries sperging about fictional "child abuse" is astonishing.
I believe a while back it was discovered Darth Josh and Animeking1108 were the same person, IIRC
Last one seriously uses the word "comeuppance". Always a good sign. The amount of Dethroning Moment of Suck entries sperging about fictional "child abuse" is astonishing.
Does it not ever occur to these idiots that maybe, just maybe, some people exist to be dicks? And sometimes the funniest characters in shows are funny precisely because they're dicks? Not everybody is gonna be nice, there'd be no conflict otherwise and it'd be boring. You know that saying that The Mysterious Mr. Enter used to refer to: "What I'm doing is wrong, I know it's wrong, but I'm gonna do it anyway"?
I'll never stop laughing at the fact they think shit like Family Guy is supposed to be teaching morals.
When will cartoon spergs learn that not everything is trying to teach a fucking moral?

Tommy Tiger: I'm surprised I didn't mention this, as it has infuriated me a lot: The My Talking Tom shorts as a whole can be compared to Teen Titans Go!note which I enjoy, unlike most people in terms of Comedic Sociopathy, but one video managed to cross the line even for the series: Episode 12, where it starts fine with Angela visiting Tom. But it all goes down when Angela starts changing Tom's house to fit her preference. Tom gets fed up and goes to find her. Then he chews her out for doing that, and it's easy to see why note Angela (read: a Jerkass+Alpha Bitch combination) was vandalizing his own house, so what does she do: Apologize to him or turn the house back to normal? None: she just turns Tom's console into a bouquet of flowers. Tom is rightfully pissed at this point, and starts throwing a tantrum, and honestly, after everything Angela's done to him, it's hard to blame him. Unfortunately, this insane fit is actually supposed to make Angela look like the one who was wronged, so she makes Tom wear a dress. The episode closes with Tom ready to cry, while Angela gets off scot-free, with a shot of her turning the "My Talking Tom" logo into the "My Talking Angela" logo to drive the point home. You know that saying that The Mysterious Mr. Enter used to refer to: "What I'm doing is wrong, I know it's wrong, but I'm gonna do it anyway"? Well, that applies here: Angela is driving Tom crazy on purpose, and she's actually happy to see him suffer. The abuse Tom underwent is worse than what Tom has gone through. And the Character Derailment Angela underwent also happened in the other "My Talking Tom" episode, and even other games like Talking Tom Jetski (Angela pushes Tom to get on the jetski if you select her). So, what is Outfit 7 trying to teach us? It's OK to bully others? Ever since then, I couldn't stand Angela anymore. Thank goodness the game "Talking Tom Gold Run", where she was easier to stomach, was published or she would Never Live It Down again. With a Girlfriend Like Angela, how is he still in love with her?

I wonder how many TVT articles quote hack reviewers like they're established authorities. Should be quite the high number. You know that saying that The Mysterious Mr. Enter used to refer to:
Wonder how these guys would react if they ever saw a short from the 1940s/1950s. They'd probably flip their shit more than that.Tommy Tiger: I'm surprised I didn't mention this, as it has infuriated me a lot: The My Talking Tom shorts as a whole can be compared to Teen Titans Go!note which I enjoy, unlike most people in terms of Comedic Sociopathy, but one video managed to cross the line even for the series: Episode 12, where it starts fine with Angela visiting Tom. But see, if they did that. It'd likely destroy half the internet itself, not just TVTropes.TV Tropes must have 2 separate communities, one which complains about things being mean spirited and the other which actively seeks to make things mean spirited with bilge like Fallout: Equestria. Those groups should declare tard war on each other and destroy the website.
