I mean, diversity isn't a bad idea in the first place, but i wouldn't be surprised if this is another "FUCK TRUMP! ACCEPT REFUGEES YOU STUPID WHITE PEOPLE!" post.

And ironically these people only complain about xenophobia when it's "white" countries not accepting muslims or mexicans or anything else. I'm sure if the opposite were to happen- i.e. white europeans immigrating to Asia or South America, SJWs would be complaining about "go back to your country and stop colonizing strong POC lands you evil mayo".
Yet if you look elsewhere on TV Tropes they'll mention the supposed racism against the orcs who are evil just because.

Why can't the simple fantasy story about good vs. evil stay a simple fantasy? Tolkien wrote it to be an adventure story, there's no hidden meaning behind it (he famously hated people adding meaning where there wasn't any to his stories).

Back when Tolkien wrote Lord of the Rings, people started referring to it as an allegory to World War II or the Cold War. Tolkien disliked this to the point where, for the second edition of the book, he wrote a new introduction flat out telling people that it was just a simple fantasy story, that there's no deeper meaning beyond that and they should just calm down and enjoy the story for what is and not what they think it means.

I see. It's just that that sentence looked weirdly worded.

Why? It's just Japanese for friend. Is it because they don't have any?
You see, a long time ago, this page used to be called "Nakama" when weeabooism in TVTropes was at its peak. Plenty of people wanted to change the name because of the large amount of pages that had japanese names that weren't indicative of the tropes they were supposed to represent due to most people not getting them at first glance (this problem is not exclusive to japanese names, but that's another story). Then one day tropers got fed up with it and managed to convince Fast Eddie about renaming it. I'm guessing that "Nakama" is basically the troper's equivalent of disco.

That's a really old interpretation of LOTR, so I doubt it's a "dump drumpf" reference. I mean, the multiculturalism and diversity was a huge part of what made hippies so obsessed with Tolkein's works. They even discuss this reading of the books in the special features for the extended editions when talking about writing the movies.

The problem is precisely that a small but very vocal group of tropers didn't think Nakama meant merely "friends", but some esoteric and culture-specific concept that was absolutely untranslatable. They tard-raged whenever people dared to suggest that Nakama wasn't the best name for the "trope", or even when some new guy asked "why do we have to use the Japanese term for 'friends'? Not everyone is familiar with anime you know?" As you can imagine, this happened with some frequency, and the mods got really impatient of it. So whenever people brought up that word, the mods were quick to silent them.

Once upon a time there used to be two groups of feuding tropers who called themselves FORKs and CHOPsticks. Both names were acronyms so retarded that my brain refused to register, but the former wanted to rid TVT of weeaboo shits like Nakama, while the latter were weeaboos who not only obstruct the former's effort, but actively introduced obscure, who-fucking-cares anime bullshit. Fast Eddie let the CHOPsticks had their way because they were simply better at stirring drama -- and Eddie wanted to avoid drama at all costs.

Well, to be fair, to a troper, friendship is an esoteric concept which is absolutely untranslatable, unless ponies are involved.

What is their definition?
You see, even tropers acknowledge that "friendship" is too common to be called a "trope", so they invent a term "true companions", defined as "friends that are closer than family members". It is not quite clear how, and by whom, the closeness of friends vis-à-vis family members is judged.

But then, most media targeted at older pre-teens and teenagers (e.g. anime, ponies) downplay family relationships, so most friends that appear in them are "true companions" by default.

I think ponies are actually targeted at 6 year olds, hard as that is to believe given the colossal fanbase of exceptional manchildren.
