The fact that this is constantly being proven empirically false doesn't matter to them. It's a basic tenet of their faith - let's call it what it is. It's also why they are pozzed in the sense of being incapable of entertaining rational argument. That might undermine the dogma. It's only the absence of a charismatic leader that prevents these groups from being cults. On the plus side it's also what makes them lolcows.

I would say it mattered in a day and age when, say, Jackie Robinson making it big in sports was new (it also helps that he served in the military too which I imagine got him some points), but the sorts of celebrities Tropers climb all over are nowhere near the same calibre of talent and respectability.

Fwiw, the military eventually screwed him over to the point where he was never deployed overseas.

He probably would have had an year or two of fighting Nazis under the best of circumstances. But we all know how hardheaded the higher ups in the military are.
 
Speaking of dumb, new tropes. I got two that I think are fun. One is "Shocking Moments" that's essentially a forced meme on the website.

They've been trying to make it the equivalent of "Nightmare Fuel" and "Crowning Moment of Awesome" for years and it just hasn't taken. The obvious problem is that ANYTHING can be a shocking moment. It's a meaningless term because it is purely subjective. The next one is "Plot Irrelevant Powers". This is brand new, just got a page on May 1st.

This is pretty clearly just a 'complain about plot threads and other bullshit that you personally don't like' trope, so I expect to see it get it's own Clean Up thread very soon. I saw it used on Sinners already to complain about how the MC's "powers" were used and it was a pretty dumb gripe if you've seen the movie.

Applicability has to be the worst page on the entire site. It's literally just doing the "Curtains were blue" meme where they take things completely out of context just to force them into their own stupid box.

Dana Terrace fangirls are fucking insane. The second they see her name on something, they lose their shit. I was watching a reaction to Tangled: The Series the other day, and the chick actually paused the episode to stop and spaz about how she saw Dana's name in the credits for storyboard artist or some shit.
