"Tropes" simply should not be applied to real life occurrences and people, because real life does not follow the pre-determined plan of some "author".

It does provide a good visual explanation as to why these pages turned into autistic cesspools, though. Take humanity's natural tendency to fight 'patterns' in chaos, combine it with repetitive and restricted behavior backed by ungodly focus, and build an echo chamber around it, this is the result.

On 13 November 2016, Jon took to Twitter to unapologetically and harshly criticize the nationwide protests against Donald Trump and its protestors, claiming to be "fed up with the delusion" and tweeting back people who agreed with him. The backlash was terrifying, with half the fanbase supporting him and lashing out against "feminists and SJWs" in defense and the other half, lashing out at Jon and his supporters for turning a blind eye to the situation at hand.
  • This was also shocking, as some fans expected Jon to post some sort of vague message of support/love, just like his friends and former costars on Game Grumps.

Well to be fair, the protests were absolutely stupid, incited riots, injured and nearly murdered people and provided a great deal of salt from all sides.

So I can see why Jon would want to bash them.

TvTropes shouldn't be talking about politics, or things they don't understand/this goes for 90% of the Internet with these elections tbh.

I know I shouldn't be posting here - but I'm getting this out...

JonTron may have just earned some respect from me, hearing what he did on Twitter... Those riots and anything like it are only going to encourage stupid shit happening to innocent people who only want to put this crap behind them and get on with their lives.

Also, I'm really getting sick of all this talk about how "The next _ years are going to be HELL for minorities/POC/Women/LGBTQs/etc." that I keep hearing that's encouraging these riots in one way or another, too (which I'm sure people are whining about on there, too.).

FIFY. But yeah, I agree.

Though TV Tropes has a lot more issues in that regard than just politics.

The most autistic man on TVTropes. Famous for A-Logging Shakespeare and hating literature.

No really.
I particularly like that alongside the standard "I'm a suburban-white supremacist and never matured beyond the age of 14" anti-country-and-rap sentiment, somehow, of all things, polka has managed to earn his ire, as if there's not a day goes by without him having to put up with people singing Roll Out the Barrel. Was it a high school thing? Did he have to put up with cliques of inner-city black kids blasting out Public Enemy from a boombox, rural good ol' boys whistlin' Dixie and... GIs playing the Andrew Sisters on a Victrola?

Perhaps he was forced by his parents to go to one too many Oktoberfests. You know what horrifying, mentally scarring experiences those can be.

(He also lists classical and folk music as well... I think you get the picture, right?)

  • On a few episodes of Sonic Boom, Sticks the Badger is shown not wearing anything under her skirt, though nothing is visible. Likely done to emphasize her wild nature since she is supposed to be a jungle girl. Though that doesn't explain Amy Rose, who also doesn't wear anything under her skirt.
Or maybe it was done because they're fucking cartoon characters and no normal person would give a shit about this.

I also seem to remember them having a Backyardigans example, but that seems to have been purged.

That same thread also has some guy being salty because of the new Han Solo movie casting the albino dragon chick from Game of Thrones instead of a nonwhite actress as the female lead.
some guy said:
Sigh. You know how the Han Solo movie was looking for a non-white female lead? Well, that didn't happen. Emilia Clarke is the female lead in the Han Solo movie. Another white brunette in Star Wars. Groundbreaking.
Why the fuck did he link "The Devil Wears Prada" for "groundbreaking." Shouldn't it be "sarcasm mode?"

Ironically, the guy's username is "higherbrainpattern." When I think of TV Tropes' userbase, one phrase that certainly doesn't come to mind is "higher brain pattern."

I liked the "Deader Than Disco" pages, making me go "Oh, so that's why I haven't heard of that thing anymore, now I get it"... but recently, they had a big purge and they barely contain a few entries each now... this is sad...
