Honestly I feel like Tv tropes is a tragic place in a way.

You got all the outcasts from society, mostly people that never fit in in Real life with normal people. Maybe because they have very odd tastes like weird niche animes, or are outright mentally different. Seriously most of them admit having things like autism or ADHD.

So, you got all this out stuff banding together to nerd out and talk about their favorite hobbies non stop. Should be like heaven for nerds. right?

Except it is a hell of their own making. Its a place devoid of all fun. A community were each other bully themselves worse than any jock could ever hope. The site is run by dictators, and used by people that only exist to police the thoughts of others.

And yes, a lot of people “enjoy” it there. But the price is any semblance of freedom or original thought. Those that conform are fine , those that question the current thing, which is wokeness, get the boot sooner than later,

Say all you want about sports fans, the shit talking ends after a few beers and a few laughs about it. But don’t you dare disagree or make a mistake about My little pony or whatever.

After seeing all the deviancy, sex pests that longer, and outright lack of empathy, one realizes that most of them were outcasts for a good reason. In the end it’s a place where everyone is miserable and everyone make each other feel miserable.

I hope so. I still see people quoting tropes like the gospel in YouTube comments so sadly some people still listen to them . But the sooner it’s influence on young writers ends the better.

TV trope‘s influence is big reason of the decline in writing of the west in general. A bunch of smug people that feel they are “too smart” for enjoying things without irony.

Tv Tropes is too irrelevant nowadays , but the excessive Whedom style snark, and the obsession with “deconstructiona” and subverting expectations, and wokeshit, was definitively pushed by them for the worst.

This is absolutely spot on. I read pretty much all the tropes in their incarnations a decade ago and yeah, it does impact how you watch/read stuff and it does impact how you write it, a fact they used to mock when they had some degree of self-awareness.

I had not reflected on how much influential TVTropes might have been in Hollywood circles but I'd say some, perhaps not directly but via Tumblr as there was a HUGE intersection with it at some point (Namely, both TVTropes and Tumblr, as well as Reddit, were infested by porn sick individuals, and there was a finite number of porn sick individuals at the time, before all of them drained down to Twitter where they reached critical mass, and Tumblr is documented to have had a sizable influence on Hollywood)

For instance: "Rooting for the Empire" + "Representation Matters" = Hays Code-esque strict criteria about how villains and evil should be portrayed.

Don't worry, TVT is a trustworthy online encyclopedia filled with people that are knowledgeable, highly qualified scholars.

If Encyclopedias went into rants about how the ending scene of Some like it hot is Harsher in Hindsight due to how much transphobic those evil conservatives are, and you replaced Some like it hot with an episode of Steven Universe/Freaking MLP/Some other (ostensibly) kid's cartoon in which a character learns that is ok for an ("Assigned at birth") guy to paint his nails.

On another hand, the Encyclopedia Britannica is not far from this since the average mentality of the british cultural elites is very much the same as the average TVTropes goblin.

Geth is a good chap. While I might not necessarily share all his views, you have to admire that the guy's always been absolutely strict and unmovable in what pertains to his morals and ethics, and would follow his beliefs no matter what. Call it principled or autistic, I'd say autistic.

He was shown the door after he refused in no uncertain terms to bend the knee to the transtapo and he had a blog where he elaborated on his views and opinions about the world and stuff, including Null and the farms, and he was one of the main writers at a videogame magazine for christians.

Now, how much he can survive being public and outspoken about his general views (He was an avid gamergater to begin with, which is a no-no in polite society) or how much reading can a christian videogame magazine have and how many videogames can actually be suitable for christians of this persuasion, who knows.

He used to be a farmer here, he does have a sense of humor but his tendency to oversharing led to his unorthodox views on porn -considering his deeply conservative general mentality- being mocked by some users who called him and hypocrite and he took great offense at some people suggesting what kind of porn he liked IIRC. He takes it very seriously when his character is put in question in any way, shape or form.

Probably that and the fact that it was a splinter site made by people fed up with TVT Administration. That said, Wikia is a dogshit hosting service, so that deserves to be mocked at least.

That's the thing, really. I'm convinced a mix of jealous loser nobodies zealously wanting to present their hobby to be the "in thing" by nerd clique popularity faggotry was angry that a bunch of anime otaku took their spot in the limelight away, and rather than be constructive and work together on actual tropes discourse, bullmucked and whined enough to play king of the mountain on diaper hill.

Honestly, I'm not surprised TV Tropes is mainstream nerd clique central. Everyone there speaks like a bunch of coddled losers raised by helicopter parents while owning a funkopop collection and collectors editions of the MCU to the point they'd die if they scraped their knees on the pavement. I can sense the scrawny soyjak pretentious beard posturing problem glasses wearing faggotry already. I would be laughing at them if it wasn't for the fact that they lack any sort of joy or imagination with their consumption of entertainment fiction and are smug consumed cocksucker narrative propaganda steered tools that never use their brains.

It also doesn't help Wikia or in this case Fandom as its called, has been making their website more unbearable with all the ads, ui changes and other shit they have been pulling as of late. The Minecraft wiki may as well be the shining example of how fucked wikia/fandom can do to a once reputable wiki.
