Nothing out of the ordinary here, I just found calling Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy characters "harmful stereotypes of children" to be amusingly stupid. If you knew anyone that ever acted like Jonny 2X4 or Rolf in your childhood, I'd like to know. Definitely written by someone who's gayer than Jimmy.

What the fuck is he talking about? "Harmful stereotypes of children" are bulles and bratty kids not a thng anymore? Was there a meeting that declared kids to be a fringe minority that I wasn't invited too.

@Jonah Hill poster
This reminds me, do you guys remember that period when Tropes were "illustrated" by some guy's webcomic at the bottom of the page and the admin made a big deal about it? And then they took it off because it slowly became clear that the artist was more interested in shilling his awful drawngs than advertising the site like they planned.

I think I remember what you're talking about. There was a really ugly comic that poorly explained most of the tropes and wasn't funny.

I don't even remember what trope that comic was supposed to be about, but I remember seeing a new comic like this every week.

I think around 7-9 years ago, CN was advertising the shit out of the bullying PSAs while most of their shows. I just assumed that this was some autist getting angry at the networks for not practicing what they've preached.

It's faster and more ethical to just cut the Victoria pages than it is to be fair and buy an copy so you can manually review it and they really want to strangle the guy who wrote that page because he's downplaying just horrific the story is.

Getting angry over someone's poor grammar on the forum I don't know what he said, but it pissed off an mod

And I accidentally clicked the wrong thing, and it turns out that they really did store your password in plain text on your machine. So out of curiosity,I was wondering if there's another way of storing them and I found an old thread that shows how inept FE is with coding

Imagine receiving one brief moment of consciousness in an infinite universe. A fleeting opportunity to participate in the thinnest sliver of potential experiences. Time is so short. Every instant so precious. Now imagine choosing to spend that time documenting every instance of "Cutaway Gag" in Family Guy.

The mods are sufficiently angry enough to decide on what needed to be done about the Victoria controversy but they didn't run that statement past an sensitivity reader. Meanwhile, the plebs are still reviewing the book because the jannies haven't figured out how not to offend their community. Turns out that the guy who wrote the page was downplaying the racism , which is why they hate him and want to undo all of his work

I remember stumbling on the Victoria page. It's a weirdass book that comes off as parody but is apparently wholly serious. It follows that the tranny jannies would discover the page and force themselves to reckon with it rather than just be sensible and leave it alone.

I grew up on EEnE, and comparing it to my own childhood as a male, that show is basically how actual preteen boys would react to things in that environment. How is that show promoting "harmful stereotypes of children" when a lot of the (childlike) behaviors of the characters is how kids actually act? Are they talking about characters that were commonly portrayed as antagonists? Like people like Kevin and Sarah don't exist IRL.

Victoria is there to stay until some retard reads that page and gets "radicalized" by it and blames the site.#

People still aren't entirely happy about it.
Huh. That's a surprisingly rational response for the TV Tropes staff. I'd have put money on them taking the easy, virtue-signaling way out.
Probably because the person who wrote that was homeschooled
More like in the special ed class. Only retards get offended by EEnE.

Okay, I just ran into something on TV Tropes that sounded so wrong I had to ask people who were more in the loop than I am.

I was reading the YMMV page for Poppy Playtime (because I was bored) and it said this under "Overshadowed By Controversy."

  • In December of 2021, MOB Games announced on Twitter the release of a set of NFTsnote "Non-fungible tokens", a type of cryptocurrency that is a non-interchangeable unit of data that can be sold or traded, which have become extremely controversial because of the harm their energy requirements cause to the environment to promote the release of Chapter 2. This move was met with immediate backlash from the fanbase, with most being upset that the NFTs contained more lore than the game itself at the time, and MOB Games deleted the tweet soon after. Even after MOB Games issued an apology, most may have never heard of the game if it weren't for what some have called an unnecessary business move.

The part I bolded is what struck me as wrong. I'll admit I'm not up on the whole NFT thing but I assumed that they were controversial because of unethical business, that they were basically a scam, etc.... how the fuck can an image file on a computer possibly harm the environment?

Is there something to this or is TV Tropes seriously just this retarded?

Yeah, climate change activists will use any excuse imaginable to bring awareness to the cause. Just the other month, someone was angry at cow burps for burning an hole through the ozone layer

I will give Tvtropes 1 thing: The Hogwarts Legacy page is a completely normal page. No spoilers in the summary, no nasty references to JK Rowling and certainly no impassioned speeches about separation of art and artist or whatever. That's leaps and bounds ahead of a lot of other SJW websites.

Granted I have not looked at the YMMV page and I don't want too frankly.

It's unusually short, but it also has the exact type of content that you'd expect.. Plus, some blood libel from the (((goblins)))

TV Tropes is a marvelous place to waste time when you're an autist and like reading all sorts of stupid shit about your favourite movies and TV shows. Spent many an hour killing time in the high school computer lab doing that. Never even knew there were forums until tonight though, and given what I already knew about the site, I'm not surprised these are the people writing all of this. You kind of have to be at least a little bit on the spectrum to enjoy things like this.

They do use a lot of energy because you have to have a bunch of computers running, but so does fuckin' everything in a modern industrial society. People who already hated the concept of NFTs and crypto and shit just started this campaign about energy usage and how we have "12 years to hingus the bingus" etc etc etc.

I personally think NFTs are mostly a dumb concept, but I really don't get the people who make hating NFTs like... a personality trait. I see NFTs how I see Amway or Cutco or Scentsy. Obviously it's not a smart use of your money and it won't actually make you rich. So just don't buy into it and move on, ez pz. But then you get these people who act like it's some sort of crusade or worthy adversary or something that needs to be "defeated" instead of just a dumb fad that'll wear out over time. Even most crypto people knew NFTs were bullshit from the gate. Cryptocurrency can actually be useful as a means of exchange. Pictures of bored apes or whatever were never going to massively increase in value just because each one is unique or whatever.

I don't get what drives these people to devote so much time and effort towards hating something that most people already know is bullshit. It's like spending hours every day writing about why Amway's MLM structure.
