I've been discussing and comparing Matrix Resurrections with Top Gun Maverick to help analyze why I felt the former didn't live up to expectations, and one user had this to say.

Yep, even though Resurrections is not nearly of the same quality as Maverick, at least it's not "heartless military propaganda."
Matrix Resurrections was terrible. This dude is basically saying that he only prefers Matrix over Top Gun because it agrees with his politics, not because of the actual quality of the films. Did Top Gun even have a scene of the US Air Force bombing civilians? I doubt it.

Neither Top Gun film had a scene of the US Air Force bombing civilians. In the first one, they didn't bomb anything, in the second they bombed a military target. Also, the USAF never appeared in Top Gun. Top Gun is about US Navy aviators.

I wonder if Bridget was inspired by that one Space Sheriff Shaider episode in general (just like Gwyndolin seems like a distorted memory of Poe more directly), but my reference pools are tiny and nun smut is a thing.
I read this somewhere before but I can't find it for the life of me right now, but if memory serves me right, it's believed that Bridget is inspired by Cheech and Chong's Up In Smoke and the song Earache My Eye. Up In Smoke is about the two trying to win a Battle of the Bands contest at the end of the film, while Earache My Eye is about a crossdressing boy who gets shit on by everyone for his habits, but hopes to one day be a rock star and make lots of money and is the song they perform to win the contest. Wearing a nun's habit is probably inspired by a joke in the film, where a bunch of them get pulled over and framed for a joint Chong threw out at the US Mexico Border, while it makes them look like a bunch of drug smugglers, and if you want to get really indepth, Cheech pulls off a crossdressing rockstar persona by the name of Alice Bowie.

I swore I found this on the equally as gay Wikia now on the Guilty Gear Wikia, but no dice right now. I guess they don't think rock and metal culture is as important as autistically gushing about strictly music and band references.

More wokeshit, this time at Rings of Power, the abortion new series by Amazon using the Lord of the Rings title.

Also, here are a few people using the non-canonical Shadow of Mordor/War as a scapegoat.

I'm torn. On one hand, a bad adaptation should be called out but on the other hand Tolkien purists are annoying faggots who throw tantrums whenever something is slightly different from the books, while also believing the original texts to be beyond criticism. I say let them have it, I'm sure there's more than enough forums out there bashing Rings of Power.

Personally I have a very bizarre relationship with Tolkien. I love his stuff, but too much mindless praise gets to be grating.

I can't think of a single writer so good that I have absolutely no criticism of them. That said, my very favorite writers, I love so much that I even love their flaws.

Im still confused why throw Shadow of Mordor into the mix. It was already said to be non-canonical and it was made up by a really satisfying nemesis system that is rarely done even in modern 2020 standards. Reengs of Powah ain't got shit on Talion.

Man, after some of the other insanity we've documented about the place, a train autist is almost... quaint.

So in the meantime when the site went bye bye
  • Pages dedicated to wikis like rational wiki are gone
  • A Serbian Film's page is partially restored, the page is back to having tropes after the decade plus long ban against them.
  • Themayorfromsimpleton is still a cunt

Conservapedia was gone a LONG ass time ago. Like almost a decade ago
Well, I've never really look around at that part of the site, I remember that they were actually roasting their admin...But fast forward to current year and the mods are banning people for talking about hypotheticals and they've actually fallen behind on the ban appeals

Wasn’t the cleanup on websites+social media done years ago? This isn’t a new thing.

You know it always amazes me how many left wing authors hate Narnia just because of its religious themes and its popularity. Like you have a ton of authors who make stories that are post to spite Narnia like His Dark Materials made by a edgy atheist who hated Narnia simply because it was a Christian theme story. Magicians where the C.S Lewis stand in is a pedophile. Like good job on Lewis for being dead for so long yet a ton of angry atheists will make stories that are post to be "take thats towards him" yet people still love his works over there's.

Like I'm pretty sure Narnia is still more popular than Dark Materials.
Probably because if you wrote an edgy deconstruction of LOTR people would just show you the Silmarillion and call you an idiot, so Narnia is the better target.

This is kind of off topic, but the YouTube channel “Overly Sarcastic Productions” is full of the TVtropes brand of media analysis and it makes me want to KMS. Red is a person who’s gotten her entire brand of media literacy from obsessing over trope articles. She’s not a lolcow (though the other person on her channel, the history guy, makes terrible videos) but she’s introducing a whole new generation to this shit-tier tvtropes type discussion. She also talks about fucking children’s media like it’s the gospel for narrative writing, to the extent of prioritizing it over actual classics. I also hold a grudge against her for saying 2001 actually sucked but that’s just me being petty.

I like mythology stuff so I run into her content constantly which is annoying because she deliberately sanitizes all her myths (Persephone and Hades totally isn’t rape guyzzz), interprets anything possible as LGBT (like saying the goddess Artemis is “Demiromantic” or some bullshit) and just reads off wikipedia for half her videos. Also general SocJus shit. And yet they have 2 million subscribers from having the most surface level discussion imaginable.

The way she talks is like a walking TvTropes article.

I think the way TvTropes looks at media has to be the most genuinely unproductive way to look at any narrative. Isolating narrative blocks down to tropes, isolated Things that Happen, leads to this bullshit reductive discussion, which is why the entire website is crippled by autism and obsessions with children’s media. It was doomed from the get go.
At least with that channel name you know what you're going to get.

I've haven't been back to it for a year, and its weird how they crossed the line of not saying context on tropes now. I've seen a lot of pages where a character is listed as the 'bad guy' for saying retard, faggot, nigga, gay, and so on despite it was used in either the technical term or friendly banter and the other person/people laughs and takes it in stride. It didn't matter if they're not evil, they're automatically a bad guy in their eyes for using a "no-no" word. Even old movies are hit by this.
I got so annoyed one time to finally log in to edit to add context (even adding that in-universe the movie took place in a time where "retard" wasn't an insult like it is nowadays and the doctor was using it in a medical sense) only to get screamed at a random user in the forum where "retard was always a slur", while the other users were "you know, with context, that trope doesn't fit. Cut it from the page". I wasn't banned or given a warning. Either I surprisingly got lucky, or the few sane people are still around. It was a weird experience.
