Also, they're wondering why Calvin is horrible to and terrified of his babysitter.

How can they wonder that? Did they ever have a babysitter? I did exactly that shit to my favorite/most hated babysitter. I was a horrible little shit.

I don't actually know why, I just was. It's one of those why ask why things. Why are kids such horrible little shits to substitute teachers? Same reason, whatever it is.

The people just don't get humor and characterization unless it's laid out right in front of them and dissected and explained meticulously.
I dunno, some still don't get it even when that happens. In those cases, I just consider the person to be either completely hopeless or a robot. Sometimes both.

I don't know why tropers are so obsessed with Suzumiya Haruhi. Is it because the anime came out around the time the site started or is it just autism

A person who discovered that she is just like everybody else and instead of accepting it, she made an autistic little club into finding things that don't exist? Sounds like a troper thing to do

I've been meaning to bring this up, but they seem to be revamping their trivia pages on several of their entries. Namely the removal of the "Hey it's That Voice/Guy" and "He Also Did" tropes. I'm too lazy to know why or ask (it's probably for a stupid reason, though). So does anyone else know?

Tv Tropes deletes or cuts pages for three reasons:

1. Google censorship (not the case here, this is trivia crap, not Google offensive worthy)
2. Stupid shit that turned out to cause endless flame wars (not the case here, this isn't stuff on their flame bait list)
3. Reorganizing the current pages because as they currently are they're a bloated tumor that need to be either sent to other pages or has tons of duplicate content elsewhere that needs trimmed (likely this one)

I'm not familar with that anime but I heard that Haruhi is a very whimsy (MoNKeyCheəZeRANd0m) character who always gets her own ways. She is what tropers want to be.

I watched it a long time ago, short version:

Haruhi is a girl, who, unknown to her, is actually a reality warping god, but doesn't seem to be aware of it nor that espers, time travelers, and aliens exist. The joke is that she forms a club to find them, and guess who the members are? The main character is basically a snarky normal dude who used to be that way, got jaded, but winds up being one of the few people who can keep Haruhi from fucking reality a new asshole without realizing it.

And so, the series follows keeping Haruhi ignorant of her reality warping abilities (since she can dick with things to the point time and space can be utterly blinked out of existence if she was aware of that power).

She is random as hell and does a lot of shit that makes her look like an asshole, but she gets away with a ton of it because she's God, more or less, and the plot is the rest of the cast following her wackiness and trying to keep her from fisting reality a bloody asshole.

I'll leave it to you to figure out why this shit is a geyser of atsimu from there.

Also the show is, in troper-speak, very troperrific. You can look for random tropes on TvT and chances are you can find it in the show.

Perplexing, since I didn't see this happen to the FiM page.

Not to interrupt your current topic, but remember about the time when @Fat Cat Represent talked about a strange forum game that slowly fell into madness? Now imagine if this kind of shit is organized, and contains non-autists as well? Let me introduce you to the Original Character Tournament. Yes, this shit exists.

To prevent it from being too off-topic, let the autism cave itself, TvTropes, tell us about it.

An Original Character Tournament, often abbreviated OCT, is a type of competition that is popular on art websites like DeviantArt. Basically, it's just what it sounds like: A tournament between artists where they battle their completely original characters through artistic expression. Usually, this is through comics, but occasionally has included animation and literature.

The usual progression of events goes something like this... Somebody figures they have a great idea for a tournament, and they decide they're going to host one. They find other people willing to judge, create prizes (it helps to either have artistic talent or to have good friends who possess same), and hammer out the setting, the Story Arc, maybe an NPC or two. Either during and/or after this stage, they hold auditions. Auditioners are usually expected to create a character, a reference sheet for said character, and an audition to introduce the character and explain why they've become involved in the tournament. Once the judges have filled all slots in the tournament, auditions are closed, and the actual tournament begins. Characters are matched up against each other randomly, and the artists have until the first round deadline to create an entry for the first round. At the end of the round, the judges decide which artist continue to the next round. This process continues until only one artist is left. That last artist's plotline then become canon, and he or she is named the winner.

Of course, forum tropers, being the RP spergs they are, adore this kind of idea. Just.... why.
