It was a game of "ship your friends" that was hosted out of the old IRC channels that Eddie got rid of the article on because they were unofficial and divorced from the shitty onsite community. The "dating service" article just never got the deletion it deserved. The thread for it became a particularly hugboxy chat thread and had an article of its own from when it was in Forum Games before people grew ashamed of it and had it deleted.

Bitches are thin-skinned there. I called them pussies for purging the Saddam article of anything funny, they banned me. Fuckers. TV Tropesis dead, long live All The Tropes (they're still there, they went from Orain to Miraheze, when Orain ceased to exist).

The "Current Ships" section of that page is astounding:

Eponymous Kid is outspoken and yet at times demure and shy- he will strongly state his opinion on a trope proposal but rarely does much in the way of serious edits himself, but is reasonably active in the community. Karalora, by contrast, is a much more entrenched troper, having done more major edits than she can keep track of. She's outspoken on issues that interest her but rarely takes much active part in ones that don't. I love the idea of a Mentor Ship, particularly one with an older, nerdy, rubenesque woman, so hey, don't ruin the fantasy.

Again, this person is talking about fellow members of his/her community.

I think I'm already in love with All the Tropes - it actually exists for what it needs to exist for - NOT BEING A FUCKING HUGBOX for animation spergs, but as a tool to learn some things (even though I'm sure that's not what it's meant for, overall.).

All The Tropes isn't perfect by any means. It's still an autism hive and got a lot of pages that are outdated,

The first is inevitable given the subject, and the second is due to having a smaller community and less editors to add regular updates.

On the other hand, it's founders explicitly decided to avoid the censorship and cult building of TV Tropes while trying to remain as hands off with the moderation as they could manage.

It also depends on which ATT you refer to. The Wikia version gets most of the spergier dumpoff from TV Tropes and is even worse off from a content perspective, while the Miraheze version is more tightly curated and less filled with butthurt TV Tropes expats.

The Wikia fork exists mainly because Geth didn't want to leave it to rot, though based on how he tried to invite most of the better editors to the Miraheze fork, you could also consider it a "wheat from the chaff" fork meant to filter out the more autistic spergs.

Someone's probably posted about this already, but some of the "Nightmare Fuel" entries are pretty damn ridiculous. It's funny to imagine people legitimately getting nightmares about such things as Buttercup smashing Bubbles' chalk in an episode of The Powerpuff Girls, or the Puppet Pals from Dexter's Laboratory.

Yes, those are actual entries in the respective pages.

And the picture on the South Park page is just Cartman smiling while holding a knife.

Sooo scary:

I'e said it before, but the fact that Hamtaro has a page makes me weep for this generation.

Well, technically a lot of preschool shows have a page. There's nothing that says there shouldn't be.

You should probably be weeping that some tropers actually complain when preschool shows don't appeal to them, and no, I don't make that up...

No, I know what you mean. I'll try to find it a bit later, but there was a guy in the edit ban thread ranting about Jay Jay The Jet Plane not following real-world physics.
It's a show that has creepy CGI planes, of course there's going to be no real-world physics to speak of.

Those are the kinds of people I don't get when it comes to that site. It's fine and all you want to make a page for a kiddie show, but just leave it at that. ESPECIALLY if you're an adult, a demographic that otherwise wouldn't cater to your tastes unless you want to mock it.

I've seen someone complain that Caillou daydreams too much and the show has too many imagine spots.

That's really an issue with a huge chunk of TVT in general. These people just can't let go, ever.

@x86x2 is on TVTropes. It's a wonder the page on Barney isn't edit locked. Come to think of it, he hasn't edited it at all, surprisingly.
