What has been censored about the new Persona 5 soft-remaster? I haven't played too much of P5 proper because I prefer mainline SMT.Btw, TV Tropes users are supportive of the recent censorship over Persona 5:

"Good, the annoying comic reliefs are gone."
"Maybe the backlash will teach Atlus in general not to write scenes like this? "
"At the end of the day, nobody liked those scenes. LGBT people and their allies hate the homophobia while homophobes hate that there are gay people at all."
"Almost every game Hashino has directed has prominent homophobic and/or transphobic content. It's not just blind conjecture. And if complaints about it reached him personally, I doubt the Japanese release would of gone unaltered if he'd suddenly had a change of heart on the subject. "
"I'm just happy that the version of the game I can buy doesn't have gaybashing in it."
"This move is essentially a confirmation of something we already knew, that Atlus USA does care about these things and wants to try and mitigate the damage. As for Atlus Japan, well the last sign we had of these matters was Catherine Full Body which was criticized for the same insensitivity that previous games showed.
At this point there is a decent chance they might be vaguely aware westerners have a problem with the content in their games, but whether this means that Atlus JP will try to be more delicate with these issues in the future is something that remains to be seen. Them greenlighting this doesn't necessarily mean anything more than "I don't really get it, but fine, just let our US branch do whatever they can to make them happy" which wouldn't really result on any change on their part. And as I said while it's good that Atlus USA cares about these issues, all this does is mask the homophobia of the original product which is still intact and japanese LGBT+ people still have to deal with it which isn't really an ideal situation."
"From my perspective, the best case scenario is that going forward we have an absence of particularly egregious homophobia but not necessarily a presence of positive LGBT+ representation. "
"Hey the sex offenders are gone. That’s dope. It’s something at least."
Yeah, the Tropers take anything that could be seen as "harmful to gay people" really seriously.
Fred Rogers was literally a Christian minister. Imagine expecting he wouldn't want to promote biological reality and theological truths in his show.
TV tropes has gradually turned into reeeeeeesetera lite. All thats missing are the pedo modsBtw, TV Tropes users are supportive of the recent censorship over Persona 5:

Half the website is devoted to obsessing over TV shows and movies preferred by prepubescent children. If there aren't any pedo mods on TV Tropes then I guarantee some of the top editors are.TV tropes has gradually turned into reeeeeeesetera lite. All thats missing are the pedo mods
This is homophobic? Their standards of "what's bigoted" is too high.View attachment 1150330
These characters had their lines changed because they were “homophobic”
Not to be that guy but as someone who played the game, I can see the homophobia since later those two guys tried to rape Ryuji multiple times cause "ha ha funny"This is homophobic? Their standards of "what's bigoted" is too high.

Meh. I’m still suspicious. I’ll believe they changed it out of genuine fan request when they change dumb shit like this. Not to be that guy but as someone who played the scene, I can see the homophobia since later those two guys tried to rape Ryuji multiple times cause "ha ha funny"
Like I dislike the scene but it's fucking stupid how people are complaining that it being changed is some major act of censorship hurting the creator's vision and others like the tropers complaining about how it's good because it's giving justice to two unnamed gay predators.
The scene was literally hated and it's being turned into some dumb center of political infighting that it's fucking exceptional.
Yeah I mean everyone hated the scene for how creepy it was and people are acting like they changed it for political correctness.Meh. I’m still suspicious. I’ll believe they changed it out of genuine fan request when they change dumb shit like this.

How Atlus fails fans of Persona 5
Persona 5 is one of the best JRPGs of the decade. So why is its localization such a mess?www.personaproblems.com
The translation was by far my biggest gripe with the game, with shit like, “Me near, okay?” and “Yokusaba Pan”
I dont care much for the scene and admittedly it is rather small in the grand scheme of things but Im more worried about the precedent it sets. Im a firm believer that the translationof a game must be 1:1 (or at least incredibly accurate) to the original version. The job of the translator is to understand the original language and transcribe it into english in a way that is accurate but also not clunky. Nothing more nothing less. Not to be that guy but as someone who played the game, I can see the homophobia since later those two guys tried to rape Ryuji multiple times cause "ha ha funny"

"M-Me, near... OK?" is not that far off from the Japanese line ("Chikaku, OK?"). The character saying that is a recovering shut-in who's nervous about being intimate with her new boyfriend, to the point where she's having trouble getting the words out. The alternatives Krammer suggests (on the linked site) would be totally wrong. Additionally, quite a few of the lines he complains about being gibberish are perfectly clear in context, even if they don't sound as natural as they could.Meh. I’m still suspicious. I’ll believe they changed it out of genuine fan request when they change dumb shit like this.

Yeah, it is a dumb scene. The thing that doesn't feel right is why the controversy is all centered on one little moment compared to the whole game? They could at least quietly get rid of the scene. Hell, isn't the game almost four years old now?Not to be that guy but as someone who played the game, I can see the homophobia since later those two guys tried to rape Ryuji multiple times cause "ha ha funny"

I don’t know, probably because of the over the top gay stereotypes I guess cause there isn’t anything major like that in the game, or because ATLUS in the west wanted to get attention to get people to buy the game.Yeah, it is a dumb scene. The real reason is triggered fags not liking to see negative elements of their lifestyle in media.I don’t know, probably because of the over the top gay stereotypes I guess cause there isn’t anything major like that in the game, or because ATLUS in the west wanted to get attention to get people to buy the game.
It’s probably not known what the real reason even is.
