Donald Trump calls for banning Muslims from entering the United States.

A spokeswoman for Mr. Trump confirmed the authenticity of the statement. Asked what prompted it, Mr. Trump said, “death,” according to the spokeswoman.

While several of the Republican presidential candidates have called for increased intelligence gathering and more aggressive investigations of suspected terrorists, as well as a halt to Muslim refugees entering the United States from Syria, Mr. Trump’s pointed suspicions about Muslims have been in a category by themselves.

At his campaign rallies, he has drawn strong applause from thousands of voters for his calls on the government to monitor mosques, and he has refused to rule out his earlier proposal to enter names of Muslims in America into a database. He has also made a series of ominous comments about President Obama’s leadership in fighting terrorism, suggesting that there was “something going on” with Mr. Obama that Americans were not aware of.

At any rate, I think Trump is gonna be in the election. Whether he wins or loses, that alone will make things very interesting.
 
The lolcow Trump thinks he can call Bill Gates and "close up" the Internet if it pisses him off.

I'm very sensitive when it comes to being able to find me my porn without people who don't understand how things in general (like the internet!) getting in my fucking way, just to serve some well-off fucks who don't know anything about the masses starved for what they have and deserve more than these well-off fucks!

Tubes Guy gets more static than he ever deserved.
I still successfully use "tubes" as a metaphor to explain why we can't just shove more data through the existing connections when talking to less tech-savvy coworkers about work bandwidth issues.

The guy was a douche, but the whole "series of tubes" metaphor isn't as dumb as it's cracked up to be. It's a decent metaphor for the internet, at least when you're talking about it big picture to a not particularly clued in audience.

There was actually a (fake) article going around claiming that one of the White House spokespeople said that Trump attempting to bar Muslims from entering America "disqualified" him from the election.
 
I'm beginning to worry that Trumps recent statement on Muslim Immigration may affect him badly in the long run, I admit, it does go against what the United States stands for, but like many Republicans are saying, he does have a point. He just wants to contains things.

Well, I have simmered down anyway, I am wanting to see what happens after the next debate. Jeb predicted the start of Trumps downfall for then, so maybe I will contain all excitement until the Iowas caucuses. I can't wait to see the primaries for both parties.

Somehow you are all 110% sure Hillary will clinch its and maybe your right, but there are enough Democrats and Liberals behind Bernie. It's too pointless to rule him out of it.

A Trump vs Bernie would be most delicious. It would truly waste the "Trumps close friend the Clintons" theory. If Trump truly doesn't want to be President, which is quote dubious as told by former VP Dan Quayel whom claimed 41 expressed interest when Trump said he'd say yes, he'd be pretty screwed.

Despite common lefty belief, nothing is absolute. For fucks sake, if Hillary becomes President I would just be :left: ready for the rapture in 2022.

Personally I think "BAN ALL MUSLIMS" is going over the line and is against what America stands for, but I think I understand why these numbers are what they are (if they're accurate). I think people are just really sick of how ISIS and the related terrorism incidents are being handled. Just this year has been fucking crazy; the Charlie Hebdo and Jewish market attacks, a suicide bombing in Yemen that killed 137 people, the Tunisian beach massacre, the literal mountain of bodies they've created in their territory in Syria, tons of other attacks in the Middle East that are too numerous to list here, the Paris attacks, and now the San Bernadino shooting.

And yet all we get are "NOT A TRUE MUSLIM," "ISLAM IS THE RELIGION OF PEACE," and "WE'RE WORKING ON IT, STOP BOTHERING US, GAWD." That's great and all, but people are beginning to get very frustrated with the lack of any major progress in taking ISIS down. And because ISIS has been able to infiltrate Western countries, particularly by radicalizing its citizens, people are on edge.

If the government doesn't start offering real, tangible solutions to this terrorism epidemic, I'm afraid more people will start siding with Trump on this issue.
