So, I'm hearing that Trump bombed big time on SNL.

Think this will affect his standing with voters?

This was rich.

During the latest Republican Presidential Debate, Trump buried the TPP as a nefarious plot by China, only for Rand Paul to correctly point out immediately afterwards that the PRC is not, in fact, a part of the deal in any way.

This gaff was so bad, almost nobody noticed that Trump topped Sarah Palin's "Russia's our next-door neighbor, so that totally makes me an expert on Abkhazia" gaff with his own gaff about how he's an expert on Russia because he and Putin were both on the same TV show.

Donald Trump said:
As far as the Ukraine is concerned and you could say Syria, as far as Syria, I like if Putin wants to go in, and I got to know him very well because we were both on 60 Minutes, we were stablemates, we did well that night. You know that.

Not only is this statement even less relevant than Palin's, Putin and Trump weren't even in the same room at any point while the episode was being filmed.

That won't matter. People like Trump in large part because he talks about China taking our jobs, and the TPP has the same effect, just with different third world countries.

True, but problems like this are best dealt with by people who actually have some clue what they're talking about, not bloviating buffoons without a scintilla of knowledge.

Even allowing for this, getting caught not just in a lie but a lie that shows you have absolutely no idea what the problem even is let alone how to fix it is something even the most reactionary and LCD-baiting of candidates can't allow. Past demagogues always had to make it look like they actually knew what the problem is and how to fix it no matter how monstrous and/or facetious their solution was. If Trump can't even do that, he's not even worthy of being the next Ross Perot, let alone the leader of an actual political party.

And on a somewhat spergy note, China's a second-world country.

What's with the "disagree"s? The "-world" system was conceived of during the Cold War. First-world countries were US and other non-communist nations, second-world were communist countries (so China) and third-world were non-aligned with either NATO or the Communist Bloc.
Personally, I think Trump will drop out. He can't win the nomination, and even if he does it's going to be Barry Goldwater again.

Honestly, as much as I want him to drop out. It could go either way at this point.

So a non-lucid Trump showed up to a campaign speech and ranted for two hours straight. It's pretty entertaining:

From the other side of the pond, this is comedy gold.

Well...it was until I remembered that this shaved orangutan has a chance of becoming the de facto leader of the first world. Then I stopped laughing and reached for the whiskey...

Please, 'Muricunt Kiwis, I beg you, vote Bernie next year, or Hillary at the very least. I don't want an even more right wing wingnut puppeteering our already right wing wingnut PM.

How you don't see that Bernie Sanders is the Democrat's John McCain (with George McGovern mixed in) for this election is beyond me.

I can't wait til the General Election, because I think Trump is more likely to get the nomination than Carson. Everybody hates them both, but the last thing Liberals have wanted was a Black Conservative after Obama. Thats why they took down Herman Cain, God bless that man.

Bernie, like McCain, won't be able to keep up with Trump when it comes to financing. His VP pick will be a similar desperate move, this time for all conservatives to laugh at. Only we won't keep bringing it back up just like we didn't with Geraldine Ferraro.

The Honest to God truth about Hillary right now is SHE WILL MAKE NO DIFFERENCE.

No matter who gets the GOP nomination, I can't see the Democrats following up on Obama so good.

I don't know much about half the people you referred to (I don't keep that much of a close eye on the other side of the pond). I'm just asking American Kiwis not to make us socialist scum in the UK suffer by choosing a president who'll treat us like the 51st state and force us into another military wild goose chase in some god-forsaken hellhole somewhere.

I'm kinda just hoping the GOP will choose a candidate too crazy to gather much support outside the Bible belt. From what I've seen, Trump and Carson both fit the bill, but then again, what's considered crazy over here and what's considered crazy in the States are completely different things...

If the GOP doesn't choose a good candidate, that means Hillary Clinton becomes our next President. Which is bad news, because she's one of the most greedy, corrupt, and untrustworthy politicians our nation has ever seen.

Look a this shit about her "joining" the Marines. If any other candidate lied this blatantly and fantastically and without reflection, they'd be pushed down a flight of stairs. Hillary does this so often, no one even notices.

I really want to have someone to vote for other than her, and Sanders doesn't count because he's 20 points behind. In sports terms, this is Sugar Ray vs Glass Joe.

So the choice is between her and an array of near identical theocrats and corporate magnates. Honestly, with a line-up like that, I'd give Bernie a bit more consideration. Here's to hoping he can at least use his following to twist Hillary's arm a bit. I've seen some of the times he's locked horns with her and I think the guy does a pretty good job of cutting through her bullshit.

No. Clinton's a worse person, a bigger crook, and will be a worse President than anyone else running or who has run in a serious capacity except Trump and maybe Carson. This is a woman who lied about being under sniper fire in Bosnia to cover up the fact that she herself deliberately put off intervention in the war so she could utterly desecate our nation's healthcare system.

She's not the lesser of two evils, and the Clinton machine won't do anything they wouldn't have done otherwise because of Sanders. It's always been in their playbook to play Three-card Monté with their politics.

...which is why I'm saying perhaps Sanders deserves some more serious consideration if the election is otherwise going to be contested solely by the corrupt, the super-rich and Bible-toting hypocrites.

Oh, trust me. I'd love it if Sanders won over all the political dynasties and über-rich. But he has about as much of a chance as a snowflake in April.
