And vast majority (if not all) of them considered themselves boys and would be gravely offended if called a girl, until one or more of the following happened:

• he got scolded by their parents again for wanting to wear something he wasn't allowed to;
  
• he grew up to be a total failure of a man;
  
• he started jerking off to lesbian and tranny porn.

Also, it's funny how some of those "always a girl" or "always a boy" (the latter more frequently) grow out of transness and get back to normal.
