All three of these figures are great. Earthrise seekers are a bit shittier than the shockwave qc wise but that two pack was a target exclusive that was a nightmare to find for a bit when it came out a few years ago. I DID get it though and they still work and scale well despite the gimped articulation and weirdly brittle feeling plastic/easily chippable paint. Also some batches of that 2 pack have the weird sudden rapid discoloration issue figures started getting the last few years. If your nephew isn't a "smash things together" kind of kid they'll probably survive given my thundercacker has fallen off a shelf once or twice and not broke yet.
So I gave my nephew the figures and he was so happy ❤️ I also gave him my defective orange Shattered Glass Starscream and Shattered Glass Soundwave. When I opened the Thundercracker and Skywarp 2 pack the figures had turned green and grey so it's a good thing I didn't try to sell them. (Also damn Hasbro's quality control for the Netflix figures was dogshit).

I didn't realize how awful the playline Transformers had gotten, none of my nephew's prior seeker figures fully transformed 😕

I heard they're doing a rerun for SG starscrea-and it's sold out I forgot for a split second if you don't have money IMMEDIATELY for exclusives these days it'll just be in the hands of scalpers forever even for pre-orders. Sucks. The combo of people wanting insane dollars for the ones that rapidly yellowed and this shit is just raw AIDS.
I know it's a cost cutting thing but I'm honestly surprised they don't just reissue or do new versions of the old convention exclusive SG figures using the original molds. Like I know the excuse people give for why hasbro can't do it even for the non exclusive versions is "oh well the molds are 20+ years old and..." but then you got the beast wars stuff from just a few years ago that did that and only failed to sell well because of how they priced stuff that was clearly engineered as a kids toy at collector level prices (while also doing weird shit like leaving megatron's head black plastic instead of painting it silver")

Theoretically going by shit like that one walmart g1 prime reissue that added ratchet joints to the arms they could do the obvious and add leg joints to the OG armada megatron like people used to mod theirs with by butchering cybertron jetfire. They'll never do that though and instead make more redecos of the new figure that sculpt wise is fine but removes every unique feature the original toy had. Always, ALWAYS skimping on that one bit of paint on the sculpted minicon launch ramp.

Anyways my point is basically if they really REALLY wanted to it'd be super easy to release decent figures marketed towards kids that also appeal to collectors again, and they wouldn't even need to put much effort in.
(Also damn Hasbro's quality control for the Netflix figures was dogshit).
Could be worse, could be like some copies of the siege seekers where the back would snap off for no understandable reason. Makes me a little cautious when handling them but overall If you look at used ebay listings you'll see a bit of those for thundercracker and starscream in junker figure lots. It seems to be a stress related breakage.

I got a weird grey earthrise wheeljack recently in a used figure lot. Eventually realized after looking at it long enough that it was a netflix one with all his paint removed. I'm guessing the previous owner was experimenting with paint stripping methods.

I would be hesitant to buy another one since Hasbro QC has only gotten worse, especially with light colored figures. If I ordered another SG Starscream odds are it'd turn neon orange even faster than the first one (seriously, wtf Hasbro? It turned orange stored in the freaking box, & stored out of sunlight!)

The only Transformers figures I buy these days are ones I find while thrifting, or improved 3rd party bootlegs from Aliexpress.

Anyway, another figure question. Is this Shockwave worth anything? Is it even real? I got it in a trade and I ignored it 'cause I don't collect Bayformers:

At least the rapid yellowing is cosmetic only and not stuff like the exploding legs/shearing limbs off just by bending them shit some figures apparently have now. Also I have no clue what the fuck that shockwave's deal is, looking at the torso and upper legs the overall shape is similar to ROTF megatron if you put shockwave torso elements over it. Still genuinely interesting looking. The studio series shockwave does use that megatron's upper legs but his shape's nowhere near as blatantly similar and his arms aren't that beefy. Likely a KO but it's not like any KO i've seen. Would keep it just for the strangeness of it.

I think it might be a Nitro Zeus mold using Shockwave's coloration. Got it in trade from someone else who also got it in a trade so 🤷‍♀️

Nah, nitro zeus looks completely different. (and weirdly vaguely like beast wars megatron despite being bayformers shockwave's brother)

not my photo obviously but here's what he looks like.

What's up with the black and purple Megatron and his little friend?
I'm gonna need more context to this. "black and purple megatron" just makes me think of either the many darkside megatrons, g2 hero megatron, or beast wars megatron.

EDIT: wait do you mean the wild king one that's a repaint/bundle thing exclusive to asia?

It's tied to one of the kid-aimed lines that they decided to region lock for no real reason. It's basically cyberverse type stuff but with elbow articulation not skimped out on and the gimmick being the smaller guys can become arms or legs for megatron or optimus.

trough my "turning my figures back into alt mode for storage" journey i try to pick up some oddballs: IMG_20260925_212659536_HDR.jpg
this cyberverse unicron makes me sweat. the entire neck piece of it is clear plastic, making me afraid to turn it into the space crab mode.

another odd one i dug up: IMG_20260925_201551505_HDR.jpg

the rescue bots optimus prime t-rex.
i picked him up at a fleamarket, snd it does transform, and the weird part is the entire thing looks like beast wars megatron.
while he has no articulation it will always be weird to have a truck trex that transforms into a megatron/optimus prime hybrid, and i wait for the day we get a generations version of this.

I understand the tension but I don't think I've ever heard of his neck breaking. You just tilt his head back for transformation from what I remember? I know I had this one but he's one of the several figures I know I had that have gone missing when I tried finding my old figures recently.

the neck has a little piece on it that builds tension to stop it from flapping around. ironic, as it is the reason why that piece shatters now.
i' going to try and shave it off, i'd rather have it loose then have it snap.

Is it breaking from it or is this just like a worry about it potentially breaking? Looking up the figure on ebay there's tons of listings where the neck is ok in various states of up or down, and looking at recent reviews of the thing he doesn't seem to have too much of a risk.

EDIT: some review videos I skimmed on youtube do bring up how it's kinda concerningly tight on their copy so it might be that. Just don't sand away too much obviously.

the hinge is so tight and it does a worrying "snap" even before moving into the right position, i'm not going to risk it on a figure this old.

Nah the one I saw at the store was all Tron'd out.
Ah, those are just purple then not purple and black. Yeah those and the blue optimus prime and the other guy are walmart's exclusives for the 40th anniversarry of the movie. Megatron specifically seems to be what they were first intending on doing before the others given how he's the same color as the galvatron they did in the same style and colors a few years back as a hasbro pulse exclusive.

Late and gay, it looks like a heavily modified Studio Series figure or a KO of it, it looks like the right arm has been replaced(?), and the feet have been replaced.

Might be a better idea to sand the spot it makes contact with instead of the clear plastic itself, thinner clear plastic =more brittle clear plastic.

The thing is the studio series one's shape looks nothing like that outside the upper legs joints being shared with megatron. The overall shape of the thing is completely different.

The way the shoulder connects to the torso looks the same, the shoulders look the same, it even has the treads in the calves.

I think that's due to both being remolded from "a megatron" and also the fact they're both trying to be the same character. Studio shockwave is a heavy rework of studio ROTF megatron.

So I'm pretty sure the figure is bootleg 'cause it smells like melted plastic. & it doesn’t actually transform into anything, it just sorta looks like Shockwave & poses.
