He does. The head is "under the nosecone." I'm assuming they meant the entire cockpit section, cause I'm pretty sure you can see part of it in vehicle mode. Gonna guess the arms fold around back and the legs have the combiner ports for arms.

I know it's already been pointed out pretty much everywhere online but the promo/preview art for the Nexus prime figure was completely different than what we got here.

What the fuck happened to this one? Did it get scrapped because it didn't require you to buy two 120 dollar and five 42 dollar figures to get the whole guy?

so this is the worst case for nexus; you not only need limbs. but also at least a single commander to do his combined mode.
to get his "true" form you need at least 6 figures, snd to mix it further like the image intends you need to buy 3 commanders.
this is bullshit. the current frame system already was a hurdle, but this thing would have been far better if it worked with combiner wars limbs.

edit: so wait, if it's only the torso it's not nexus prime, it is just heatwave.

I've noted most Transformers I've been getting the last 3 years (outside all the megatron/galvatron/marvel guys and some g1) are mainly the secondhand remake armada figures, no clue if it's personal bias due to growing up with beast wars/RID/UT stuff or just aesthetic appreciation, maybe a mix of both I dunno) The rapidly rising costs means I can't really buy much, especially in my current situation.


Since I don't have a 3d printer I cannot get the various unofficial modernized armada thrusts from the last few years people have made. My original from forever ago is probably somewhere in the house still, though I have no clue as to where. Apparently like sideways, demolishor, and cyclonus he scales with the remakes of the other armada cast really well.

I even found a few people modded modern articulation onto him. I remember him already being basically one of the more articlate armada guys so it's less severe than the sideways mods I've seen, but it's definitely something in a slightly similar ballpark.
Might get a secondhand copy from someone else if I can find one when I got money again so I can do something akin to what this guy did. Lack 3d printing or a spare siege sideswipe so I'm likely not going to be able to do more severe stuff that'd fix his stumpy legs, but just filling in missing paint apps from the original figure is really all you need to make him look better I think.

This is all just making me realize how undersized legacy hot shot is compared to the rest of the armada remakes, and how the undersized star saber that comes with the armada starscream was clearly meant for him instead. He'd probably scale well with the Takara exclusive armada thrust remake from Unite warriors, actually. I don't have that though despite me wanting that set since it came out. It's just forever beyond my price range of affordability.
 
So, I sold off all my shit. Like full purge.

But I saw that Liege Maximo and I’d already been debating on getting one figure as a physical representation of my nerdier younger years. I was thinking on a Megatron, maybe Magnus.

It's specifically his g1 (g2 story of the marvel comics technically) design. Only issue I have is they misinterpreted his fanged respirator thing as an angler fish mouth which is weird because the quintesson bailiff literally has the same thing the marvel design for leige maximo has. Seen multiple people point this out lmao I dunno maybe I've just been spoiled by Impactor, Straxus, and Jhiaxus all being pretty much 1 to 1 with their marvel looks (with jhiaxus' alt mode being inaccurate due to him being a pre-tool for vector prime)
EDIT: Forgot they also managed to get Xaaron accurate but I didn't get the 2 pack he came in. Clever use of reflector to make a downscaled gold megatron with a toy-based head.

He should have been a titan and had an arm cannon, I still stand by that. Still it'll be nice to have a version of him officially that looks ALMOST like his OG design.

I was hardcore lore autist, I know. The darts are homaging art from Alignment, the short story by Furman that details his plan and what the Hub was for.

A titan would’ve been awesome but it’s simply not realistic. I headcannoned that he’s a Sauron case with an absurdly large and evil form and a “fair” form.

The fig reminds me of any childhood favorite, Energon Unicron so I’m content with it representing that time of my life.

Got an old Bayverse Little Brown Book 8 in 1 story collection for the littles. I miss when they actually drew out the scenes and didn't slap on screenshots and call it a day. The drawings were clearly made for simply merchandise, but it gave me the impression that actual heart was put into it somehow.

Will they EVER release TF G1 or anything else besides the movies on new DVDs? I know they don't want us having physical media but I go to places where there's not much internet so it'd just be nice.

They made titan figures out of literal non-characters I think it'd make more sense for the big green guy to be a big green guy and not a "mid-sized sorta taller than some green guy". The titan star convoy optimus doesn't scale with anything which makes it incredibly strange because of how one of the big "selling points" they advertise with modern generations is them scaling with each other as the excuse for why deluxes voyagers and leaders are all near the same size as each other now with 1 or 2 accessories or being a combiner limb being the big difference between the three classes at this rate.

You can still go to physical stores and buy the dvds of g1 and the unicron trilogy. Was in walmart a while back and saw them int he electronics section as full sets. I'm guessing by"new dvds" you mean higher resolution though?

I spitballed how they could do a Titan Liege back when I was a hardcore collector and it was merging his giant form with the Control Harness from Beast Machines and the idea was the “Prime Evil” had an Aligned-style Liege inside, a Starscream remold.

With the idea being he, the Prime of Lies was the grandfather of Pretenders, like Micronus with mini-cons.

Alignment was good stuff, a good end to Marvel and slide into Beast Wars. Megatron dropping down and unloading an arsenal, distracting Liege and getting Rorschach’d is one of his best demises. It’s just middle finger flying, even in death it’s “fuck you.”

It's smaller than the comics because it's technically part of his alt mode but it's an intentionally engineered feature and Ijust appreciate the thing even more now that I know this small design detail.

Given the trajectory of titans' engineering becoming just fucking legends level (star convoy optimus) or partsforming no effort level that scraps all potential gimmicks and charges more (tidal wave) the last few years I feel like if he was a titan they wouldn't think to include this.

His hand articulation is weird but then I realized it's likely intended to be able to grip the megatron chair.

Is Star Convoy fucked up? I remember the handle on his gun being comically small (just like SS86 Prime) but I tapped out July last year.

Yeah I figured that out. This isn't he first time they've turned spaceships into weapons and I really do like the clever double usage there whenever that happens.

I have like 6 mini-revenges due to having three different galvatrons that came with them as guns.

Not the kinda guy that normally can afford titans and got fucked out of tidal wave preorder as I said but he's mainly just fucked up by being too big and too simplistic as far as I'm aware unless there's something else defect wise I missed. Once again don't have him so can't check for shit

In terms of things I can check for though, my used takara-only powerlinx starscream I got recently has developed a shoulder stress mark in a weird area. reminds me of what happened to my SG prime when I moved the arm. Very gross looking and I hope it doesn't break on me. Seems stable-ish still though.
