“Thank you for your continued support of HobbyLink Japan.
The situation surrounding international shipping to America is once again changing. As announced in a
White House press release, the currently existing rules on ‘De Minimis,’ which exempts shipments valued at under $800 from tariffs, is expected to be removed.
The recent announcement implies that a flat-rate fee will be added to shipments valued at under $800, based on the effective IEEPA Tariff rate decided by the US government. These charges begin at $80 dollars and increase depending on the tariff rate of the country of origin.
This means that our currently available shipping methods to the US could be affected. However, we cannot verify with certainty that the JP post methods will definitely be affected.
Therefore, we would like to advise customers in the US to prepare for the possibility of tariffs also being applied to JP post methods following August 29th.
In particular,
we recommend utilizing the Private Warehouse. As we have recently experienced delays, currently we are not enforcing our 6-month storage limit, and allowing customers to store for an indefinite period of time.
If you are shipping to the US, we recommend shipping as soon as you can, however, please be aware that we are still experiencing some delays, and we highly recommend using the Private Warehouse if you are concerned about your shipment arriving in time. Depending on the time of your shipment request, we cannot guarantee arrival before the 29th.
We will update all customers as soon soon as we receive any additional information regarding this change.
Kind regards,
HLJ Team”
