Oh really? Interesting, I haven't heard anything about Sideways. I'm not sure the mold would work as well, since he's not going to have both wheels folded up on his back or the long exhaust pipe missiles on his arms.

They better damn well at least give him Rook and Crosswise for his heads. That was the only thing the original toy could really do besides transform and it's central to the character.
It's not so much where the wheels are going to be but the silhouette he has. Prowl has that weird backpack thing going on where it makes him have a high collared shirt, the handle bars above the head and the right kind of chest piece. Seeing digibashes of it it could work with how small our headmasters have become (everyone is using much larger heads which is something you don't really need to do. He just needs two different heads. After that you can repaint it as Rapid Run, or paint it yourself as it's an easy colour scheme

Of the new Legacy United reveals, I'm most excited for Energon Megatron, Bouldercrash, and Rescue Bots Chase. Energon Megatron has always been a wonderful design with a great alt mode, and Core Class figures are always fun. Bouldercrash reminds me of that Iguanus figure -- I'll probably pass since I've been racking up quite a few motorcycles lately -- and it's amazing to see Rescue Bots get more attention in the Legacy line. Hopefully they do Salvage, Blade, High Tide, Boulder, and Servo as well.

It's nice to sort of get Rocklords back even though they don't actually transform into rocks. Chase looks good and there's finally a good Windblade. Future Magmatron release is interesting.

The biggest, hypest reveal was definitely that group image.

I mean, Armada Tidal Wave is right freaking there.
That was a given since they don't have many Titans left and they had to reissue Fortress Maximus. I just find it odd that we're getting Rocklord like characters and some more Beast Wars Neo stuff. Only the Japanese care about that sort of thing. I think of the last of the United Trilogy we'll see some extra Go-Bots. Thundertron could also easily be remodeled to look like White Lion since United is all about everything Transformers.

By the way, only certain parts of Tidal Wave will be able to detach and go on to Galvatron.

To be fair if you're going to do anything from Neo Magmatron would be it. hes the only Neo character with any significant fiction in the west and his toy even got released in Beast Machines under the Dinobots subline.
I am curious to see how they'll handle him in commander, expecting to hate the beast heads like I have for all the other chug beasts.
speaking of, that core Tasmania Kid is neat. the realistic beast head with the solid color blue eyes looks horrific tho.

Tasmania Kid at it's core could be used for a lot of characters in Beast Wars down the line. Just have to change up the shell a little.

It would be nice if we could get a Big Convoy again with modern engineering. He is an important part of Magmatron's character arc. Getting a Max B and Hellscream in the final part of this trilogy would be nice too since they could also use the molds for a few other characters. They'd make for a perfect Leader or Commander class set and they could even release a colour version based off of the unreleased Megatron/ Starscream version.

Back is nice and clean. It looks like the models kits from FlameToys

Decent articulation. Looks as good as Mastermind Creations Optus Pexus.

Most of the semi looks good, I only have an issue with the legs though since this is IDW Optimus Prime, I can just imagine this as just a Cybertronian alt mode.

Hey, I mostly lurk except where I occasional post, but I need to ask a few questions:
1. Is the quality for the new legacy line any better, or the quality has gotten worse? I have a difficulty liking both the new legacy animated bumblebee and Optimus simply because they're not faithful to the original line art?
2. Should gimmicks be the main priority over articulation? I've seen people online saying the articulation shouldn't be the main priority for how transformers work.
3. Should we judge a Masterpiece on toon accuracy as it's merits?

In terms of plastic, I haven't had any issues. Nothing is yellowing like it was with the last two trilogy lines.
If people want gimmicks they can go and get some old Power Ranger stuff from Bandai. I rather have articulation. otherwise you're regressing in terms of engineering with the same costs because nothing ever get's dropped in price.
Depends. Are you okay with sacrificing vehicle/ alt mode size for an accurate robot mode? Me personally, I'm okay with that as long as the transformation isn't overly engineered.

I honestly don't know what you could even do with Big Convoy that the original doesn't already nail. hes got modern articulation and he looks great in both modes. the only thing I'd really change is making the gun a little less messy. even Takara just straight up reissued him for Encore in show accurate colors and he looks spot on with MP Lio Convoy.
I'd still be interested to see what they'd do with it, but I can't imagine it really surpassing the original.

Managed to find a few Snarls today while taking a chance at a Walmart to see what they had. Going to paint one up in G2 colours, another in Shattered Glass colours, and keep the last one to sell on ebay eventually. Price wasn't bad either for here too. $76.97. That's only like $0.08 more after conversion. Usually there's an extra $5-10 or so on them.

Suiken is my favorite of the 4 so far so Seizan is pretty much sure to be good.
the back doesn't really bother me on any of them, but it's probably the weakest aspect on Suiken because he basically has two sets of back panels(one set on his shoulders and one off his backpack) and I can't help but feel like they could have compressed it better, but that whole backpack piece also needs to turn into the leg guns I guess, but thats another thing I wish they would have done away with since they look weird and messy.
speaking of MP, I finally got a Sunstorm

If places like Newegg can make decent backs on a legends class so can Takara, people pay hundreds of dollars for a figure that looks good (and has good QC), but over the past three years or so that hasn't been the case in the MP line.

I'm lucky enough to have snagged some older collector-"used" practically new MPs (Takara Laserwave & Prowl, Hasbro Soundwave) by visiting nearby toy stores, but new MPs look so fugly and are so expensive that I'm interested in trying out MP-scale 3rd party stuff rather than pursuing official releases (other than MPM figures, but that's another story; slavish accuracy to something with a real vehicle mode gives much cooler results than slavish accuracy to a cheap-ass cartoon with a plethora of animation errors, and I'm pretty happy with the quality of an MP Blackout I found on sale).

Is anyone willing to share their experiences with different 3rd-party brands? I own a Planet X Thundercracker that I purchased on deep discount last year, which had no QA issues but that scares me a bit due to the miniscule size & stress of some tabs in the torso, but beyond that minor experience I'm entirely out of my depth on the QA histories of 3rd party companies, and I don't trust 4chan's /toy/ thread on the subject to not be full of shills and idiots. A cursory search reveals some praise for Mastermind Creations, but even that "recent" mention is from 2021, and I'm wary of accepting old recommendations.

Only company I've had issues with in terms of MP scale stuff is the Superion and Bruticus from Zeta Toys, though that's due to how the individual modes look, not the combiner. Quality has been good. Their trainbots have been great. The biggest company I have issue with is X-Transbots. Everything they produce is overly engineered for the sake of overly engineering them and they have clearance issues and terrible QC issues (Their Kup 1.0 fell apart for everyone). Fans Hobby had issues with tramp stamps on their monsterbots but that was easy to remove. After that they got better with doing without those. Power Baser is a bit chunky, but works out for an MP scale Power Master Optimus Prime.

Mastermind Creations has been great so far with their IDW inspired figures and their Oculas Max line of MP scale figures. They're the only ones doing IRL tape size cassettes instead of using mini cassettes so they look great with MP figures and properly size up against them instead of being ants next to them. Plus they don't have all of the hollow bits mini cassettes sized ones have. Only figure to fall apart on me and many collectors was their Vos.

I have yet to have any issues with Fans Toys, except some of their prices. They have the second best Dinobots if you can't find Gigapower ones.

The only Third Party company I've ever vibed with MP-wise was Maketoys and they've been dead as fuck aside from nonstop seeker repaints.
alot of 3P MP stuff is just a fucking nightmare of engineering most of the time or it looks off in some way.
currently the only 3P stuff I'm really paying close attention is Dr Wu, hes been pumping out sub-legends sized dudes and they're pretty great. the Sandstorm he showed off looks fantastic.
