I was just at Target and saw Star Prime on clearance for half off. I’m debating on buying it or not. I’m trying to collect the other Primes.

Personally I've been debating on doing a pay in 4 on this guy. EDIT: LET HIM COME.
Already pointed out earlier in the thread how I got fucked out of exploding knee wave and this guy has all the features of the original figure that one skimps out on (outside the minicon ww2 style landing craft weirdly) and outside the weird long knee armor is much more accurate proportionally to how Tidal wave's depicted even if he's more stylized. Only issue is I don't have the stylized armada megatron figure these guys put out which is around the same price but smaller, and also the pricing being beyond my usual budget. Still trying to clean off that used devastator by the way. EDITX2: he's probably unfortunately a little smaller compared to devastator which is technically not the right scale, but size doesn't matter when the figure's good.

Even though I have some cash from relatives thanks to Christmas I already blew 40 on g1 thrust earlier. Oh yeah, that reminds me. They never DID release that armada colored earthrise thrust repaint they teased on the background of some box arts a while back, did they? I mean it's not really the same guy despite same name and slightly similar design, but if bumblebee movie thrust gets to be armada thrust in bayverse style then we should be able to get an armada thrust in g1 style.

EDIT: Oh I forgot to bring this up but I preordered a third party figure that's basically a downsized titan tidal wave more or less with better hands that can be stored inside titan tidal wave if you got him.

It was supposed to come out earlier but apparently there as a delay in production and it's gonna ship to places in january. neat I guess because it means I get tiny non transformable jets with it.

All I want is a tidal wave that doesn't do the "upper torso is now skirt flap" or "knee armor is weirdly long" thing is able to transform like an updated version of the original while not being that one is that so much to ask for

Got my little nephew the Cyberworld Grimlock for Christmas because if there's two things the little man likes, it's dinosaurs and robots. The transformation seems to be pretty simple, too, so I think he'll have a blast with it.

I can't find the usb stick plug for my SD card right now for some retarded reason but I spent more than intended today at target. Evrything was cleared out it seems till I noticed wheljack and sideswipe which I did not get sadly because money worries... only tot hen buy three of an unrelated toy on clearance for custom fodder that'd amount to the same amount of money spent + something else related to it. keeping it vague because of how funny it is

EDIT: but the bullet against my better judgement on the third party tidal wave while barely awake. fuck it, it's MY CHRISTMAS MONEY AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS OVER SEVERAL HUNDREDS NOW

I think what pushed me over the edge was realizing how he's the closest figure we'll ever get to these proportions even if his leg wings don't seem to properly fold up for some reason. Apparently he was going to get this deco but it was canned because of lack of buyers for the takara/anime color one? Weird stuff.

Kirkman is writing the future Energon-verse issues from 25 onwards. I'm pretty sure DWJ hasn't inserted any retarded idpol shit yet or genderspecial crap so we're good.

I'm keeping an eye open on Kirkman though, maybe he'll keep his politics to himself, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious.
I mean Shredhead exists, but you can wave that off as a "I use they/them for I am literally two niggas" type of deal.

Bayverse was my childhood, although I have recently seen Transformers Prime in these last few years, and I think it is the perfect artstyles for this series. It takes both G1's and the Bayverse's artstyles and mixes them perfectly together. I just wished more named Cybertronians actually showed up, not just Vehicons, although I love the idea of both the Decepticons and Autobots having their generic grunt armies as well.

I ordered KOs of G1 Scorponok and Black Zarak from them recently. The tracking system is indeed absolute shit, but they did arrive.

I've never had any issues with ShowZStore themselves, I've just found that these courier services are a crapshoot. My guess is that the Slav delivering it didn't want to drive out to my house so he just reported that he couldn't deliver it.

Well, in G1 Megatron has all those seekers and Reflector and Cassette guy types in a couple of scenes and then just lost them.
Maybe Starscream bitching at him this one time is appropriate.

There's also a lot of generic one time appearance guys that are just pallete swaps of pre-existing g1 guys but those are mainly in season 3 onwards of g1 iirc and weirdly also reused in armada.

Prime seemed to be doing a similar thing to what animated did of mixing g1 and bayverse together but in a different way than what animated did. However like proportions wise it's very similar to animated including the lack of noses on a lot of characters.

I just realized what bugs me about legacy tidal wave outside the partsforming after looking at the takara version fo the original.
1767082374274.png 1767082556532.png
The feet and shoulder pontoons are meant to flow together but the legacy version just lazily has them jutting out because they didn't engineer any actual transformation outside lazy as possible partsforming shit and then lied saying it was impossible to make him transform without partsforming WHEN THE FIGURE FROM TWO FUCKING DECADES BACK DID THAT FINE AND LITERALLY ONLY LACKED ANKLES AND KNEES YES I AM STILL MAD IT COULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT

I ALSO realized the reason the third party one has such high knee armor is very likely to imitate the way the legs look on the original figure. So it's a weird mix of the original figure and game model alogn with some original stuff design style wise. Neat.

This also irked me as an owner of the original Armada toy. I think it's because they didn't want to use the giant meaty clips for where the carrier connected to the pontoons and the waist clipped to the torso. Not sure why though.

They didn't even need to use the big meaty clip since that clip was pretty much soley there for connecting to the back of armada megatron. The third party one I'v got coming who knows when int he mail now has it's own connection that's not the same and uses a different method to connect to their MP scale armada megatron I don't have. Given they already commited to make the "combined mode" into just little bits that you could pull out of the main figure they shouldn't have had any issue engineering the legs like the original for the official one. Hell, leader armada megatron does some funky shit with the legs that'd have easily been doable for replicating tidal wave's legs while keeping knee joints give both tidal wave and megatron's original figures literally shared the same issue of their legs lacking actual knees.

Why is there a running trend of third party transformers that do what the official ones aim with better QC or design philosophy in general but at a slight fraction of the scale?

Like romulus is just downsized MP megatron

Tsunami is just everything I wanted from tidal wave legacy

And now I found out about fucking BASE FORTRESS HEIDLEBERG Which is just an anime/g1 toy accurate detail wise but ever so slightly smaller than titan class scorponok figure that comes with the guy that's sold seperately in the official one.

if he's still available next time I get good money for a good price I'm doing what I did with tsunami

I still like what Takara releases, most notably their MPG and Adamas Machina figures, the prices definitely could be lower, but the quality is still there by and large. Hasbro on the other hand is only releasing more subpar figures with a higher price that don't correlate to the quality of the figure and i'm fairly certain by this point i have more Takara and 3rd party figures then stuff by Hasbro. Strangely, hasbro's best figures happen to be obscure characters or those who rarely recieve releases, such as Quickstrike and Big Convoy. Quickstrike quite literally only had 2 figures of him, the 1998 original one and the transarts 3rd party Quickstrike that had some glaring problems, the Age of The Primes Quickstrike is undoubtedly the best figure he has recieved and it makes me wish Hasbro could keep that consistent quality they give to certain characters

According to a guy who's working with the factory a Black Zarak version is planned for late February/early March. The same guy's store has a reissue of the base version up for preorder.
