Despite losing a lot of friends since I transitioned, I do still have a core group that have been super supportive. Some people in this group ive known for 12 years now.

One "friend" who ive known for about 5 years and have hung out with them countless times, not including the fact we talk almost everyday, put in the gc for me to calm down on commenting on his social media posts.

I got confused. I haven't commented anything bad, as I keep the inside jokes to the gc or in person. It's mostly supportive things as he is a powerlifter, and ive even been to his competitions pre transition.

I eventually messaged him directly, and asked what's wrong. Apparently he does not want me to comment on his posts because he doesn't want other people, particularly at his gym, to see him talking to a trans woman.

He eventually started to try to frame it as him not allowing transphobes in his space and only wants to make sure im not harassed, which I just told him im a trans women on social media, I'm going to get harassed anyways.

I eventually just played it off because this is the last group im part of from my old life. But it hurt. It hurt really bad. I felt embarrassed that he called me out in the gc, even though I know others in there would call him out for doing that. It made me feel ashamed. It made me feel ugly. It just really hurt me.

It's a one party consent state which still means that it's a nothing burger, because the troon was not part of the conversation which is a requirement for the recording to be legally admissible. NY is a single-party consent state, but I don't know if someone who is knocked out under anesthesia can be considered a party to a conversation.
