There’s an art to this. People will NOT accept they’re wrong or have done anything that could hurt their kids. They just won’t.
So try to frame it as ‘ok, you ve been doing that but now something has changed, you didn’t know, but from now …’
So you might say something like ‘it’s a nice idea isn’t it having family changing? Im less sure about the open plan stuff.
As we get more and more of these men who use it as a place to look at kids then I think people will use it less and less, as it becomes less safe.’
See how that’s framed? It’s not telling them ‘you right now are wrong’ it allows them the position to move away from what they’re doing. It positions the majority as moving away from it (if she’s a follower this might help.) so you did do this and it was ok, but now a new danger has arisen and we aren’t going to.
After that, keep chipping away with any local or regional ‘Troon caught perving’ headlines. Oh look Sandra, another one, you know a lot of people are moving back to single sex changing.
Always give them the out of being right in adapting to change, rather than reversing becasue they are wrong. Reinforce all slight moves with positive feedback and NEVER make anyone confront a mistake unless you know they’re rock solid psychologically (most people are not.)
