Yup. The man's contribution to the child doesn't come in until much later. While the child is still an infant, mom is the star of the show, and dad has to take a backseat for a while. My sister-in-law just had a baby, and I'll tell you right now my niece does not like other men, except for her dad, and even then, she prefers her mother. Mom can hold her, grandma can hold her (sometimes) and my sister can hold her, but when I or her grandpa hold her, she gets fussy and cries.

It's natural to be a little bit jealous over that, but the solution is as you said. Man up. Your part comes later. Trooning out doesn't do anything.

The thing about autists thinking the world runs according to a pre written script that only they got a copy of is broadly accurate from my experience. Though, troons are unusually lacking in self awareness even by autist standards. Still, autists tend to develop what I would call "programmer brain" where they think that interacting with other human beings is about performing a certain set of inputs in order to get a certain output. And they get confused and frustrated when they don't get the output they expect.

Once you know how to spot this, you can see it even in very high functioning autists who are able to lead mostly normal lives, and who aren't socially retarded. If you watch them closely, the way they interact with others can seem weirdly pre rehearsed and unnatural. It's not necessarily that they are psychopaths who don't care for others, but they don't have the same ability to subconsciously "read" people that non autists have. So it takes active effort to not fuck up social situations that most people would be able to navigate without having to really think about what they are doing.

I think one reason why trooning out appeals to autists is that it creates an excuse for being a social retard. Normally, if you can't interact with others properly it's your fault, and you need to learn how to do better. But once you troon out, it is the fault of the rest of the world for being "transphobic", you no longer have a duty to do better because the locus of control for your own fuckups has been externalised.

I don't think I'm autistic but I relate to quite a few of the things you said. I catch myself rehearsing conversations and hoping that they go the way I plotted them out in my head and being disappointed that they don't. Or that I'll notice that when I try to be sociable, I'm copying the way people act and speak in TV shows and books (this was worse when I was younger). It's like a mask I wear because if I'm not acting like that, I feel like a human spectator who's just observing the world around me but not being a part of it.I've been told that I look awkward and unapproachable when "my mask is off". I catch myself mirroring other people, body language, tone, and vocabulary, and I can't control it. I don't think that's inherently an autist thing, but a socially awkward thing. Other typical autist things like certain fabrics and textures feeling like hell or having extremely sensitive senses and a tendency to become very obsessed with abnormal things are very relatable or having sudden feelings of aggression when I hear certain noises but that could just be misophonia and many other people experience that. I understand sarcasm, subtle jokes and double meanings and I have no issue reading body language. I figured because I can tell if someone is autistic, then I'm not autistic. But then again you could argue that I can identify autists less functioning than me. I never had the telltale signs of autism growing up so I'm probably not autistic, just very socially awkward with some personality quirks and other psychological issues.
